Who's watching in K-zoo?
Here's the link to the story in the Kalamazoo Gazette about the Kings' attendance woes despite having the best record in the Frontier League. The Kings have a 29-14 record but are next-to-last in attendance, averaging only 1,489 fans per game at Homer Stryker Field. I've never been to Kalamazoo, so I can't give you any first-hand knowledge about why the Kings don't draw better, but everyone I've talked to about this says the ballpark is in a terrible location.

How many more years does the Wild Things contract run at Consol Park?
That's a shame, they're a great team. I wonder how far away other minor league/independant ball teams are from Kalamazoo?
It reminds me of Butler. I went there last night for the Blue Sox game, only 423 people there. The team is in second place and the most expensive ticket is $6! And free parking. Excellent baseball to boot.
I read the story and the comments people posted.It seems that it is the location.Several posters say it is in the bad part of town,while others do not want to drive and sit in traffic in downtown Kalamazoo,making a 10 minute drive a 30 minute drive.Many have suggested building a "new" stadium near a town called Portage.They say it is off the I-94 corridor.They claim if this is done more fans will come to the games.

First you start the crap the nobody on the team, including the manager, likes Ernie Banks. You said he was on the way out – wrong! You said he was a “chemistry killer”. Did the last few games look like he was a “chemistry killer”? Now, you are starting to pick on someone else! You are now accusing Joe D of having a “big head” and being a problem in the locker room.
The only Joe with a big head, small brain, and a mouth to match, is Joe from Gabby!
I do my share of bitching on this list I admit. I can PROVE my complaints or I would not post them. My problems are focused on the very questionable, almost stupid, policies of the Wild Things management.
I also always include my full name so they will know who said it! I take a lot of flack for my comments. However, as they say, “If you DON’T take a lot of flack, them your not close enough to the target”! I must be real close to it.
It is interesting to note that all you rumor mongers are named anonymous. If you want people to believe you, have facts to back up you rumors. Why don’t you use your real name so the people that you are disrespecting will at least know who their accusers are? If you are going to take a stab at somebody, why not have the decency NOT to stab him or her in the back? Tell them who you are. I bet that not one of you would be willing to say that stuff to their face! If you are not man/women enough to take responsibility for what you say then it isn’t worth posting.

mason told joe d to stay home from the kalamazoo trip. was not going to use him and didn't want the distractions that joe became. following his last game with the team, one of the outfielders grabbed his bag and tossed it toward the door, saying that if he didn't think he belonged in this league, he could go right out the door he came in. and encouraged him to do just that. right then.
