Dempsey added to all-star team

Washington designated hitter Jacob Dempsey has been added to the East Division roster for the Frontier League All-Star game next week at Rockford. Dempsey was one of three players added to the team by East manager Fran Riordan of Kalamazoo.

Dempsey is batting .290 with 12 home runs and 40 RBI. He hit a two-run homer in the first inning of the Wild Things' 8-2 victory last night over Southern Illinois.

Dempsey will join teammates Grant Psomas and Nick Peterson in the all-star game.

With Southern Illinois in town for the series finale tonight, I thought it was a good idea to throw in this tidbit: Clay Zavada, who pitched last year for Southern Illinois when the Miners played at Consol Energy Park, earned his second win of the season Wednesday when he pitched a perfect inning of relief in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 6-2 victory over the San Diego Padres. Zavada, I believe, is the only player to go from the FL to the majors in less than one year.

Well deserving, good luck to Jacob Dempsey and surely he will participate in the home run derby I'm guessing?

Outstanding series against Southern Illinois! Not only did they sweep a team with a winning record, but they showed a lot of character in tough victories on Tuesday and tonight. Another excellent debut by a new reliever (Jenkins) and great job by Justin Edwards getting out of a jam in the 7th. And yes, yet another homer by big Ernie. There's no way I'd trade this guy at this point. The Wild Things are rolling and he's a big part of it. Somebody recently knocked his defense.....he has 2 errors in 28 games!

Raniere comes off the DL soon, who goes? It's got to be one of the 14 pitchers. Fuhrman had another rough start tonight, but he has a 3.77 ERA as a reliever, according to Radio Randy. I think he stays. Maybe one of the 2 new guys who hasn't pitched yet (Guinn & Hedrick) goes? Chris, have you heard what the plans are for these guys? Starter? Reliever? Is Jenkins a potential starter?

The worst team in the league comes to CEF next. Let's hope the streak continues!

Who goes when Raniere comes off the DL has been the talk of the pressbox this week but Mason hasn't been tipping his hand. ... I haven't heard that Jenkins is being considered as a starter. I have, however, been told that Meyer is a potential starter.

Joe D. has/had an ego yes. But all things being considered there was just no room for his ego with Sidick and Banks.

Joe D needs to do something positive for WTs before he gets an ego.
