Tarp attack
Here is a link to some amazing video of from a rain delay Friday in the game between Southern Illinois and Joliet.
A severe thunderstorm with heavy rain and strong wind gusts moved through Joliet between the sixth and seventh innings at Silver Cross Field. The ground crew put the tarp down over the infield and seemed to have it secured. The wind, however, lifted up the tarp. Some of the ground crew who returned to reposition the tarp were gobbled up in the flying tarp.
The game called after six innings.

The Wild Cubs had the nerve to send out an e-mail that stated, “The word on the street is” and went on to tell us just how exiting this week-end was going to be at CEP. Really? Two of the worst teams in the Frontier League battling it out to see which stinks more. Same old fireworks that we see over and over again.
Also, the weather forecast is for hot and humid with a chance of thunderstorms. It will cost you a small fortune to get the kids a drink, or other refreshment to cool off.
Of course the Wild Cubs have plastic grass so the game will go on regardless of the weather. Are we lucky or what? I was going to say the Wild Cubs play on artificial turf but, they don’t play at all. They just show up.
This is why all fields should be turf. This will never happen at CEP.
Oh my...hope no one got hurt!
There has been a rain out at Stu's field since it had T. turf.
With the wild weather approaching, a caution. You may get a rain check to see the game again, but you will not get a parking rain check. So if you end up going twice, you may only pay for one game ticket, but you will pay to park twice.
Yes, if all fields are turf, they only the players get hurt, not the ground crew.
We were promised so much and all we got was; a guy in a chicken suit, a shameless guy in a cow suit trying to sell cookies, and a strange cheerleader. Just doesn't seem right.
That tarp thing could have been very serious if somebody was trapped uder it for too long. Can't control the weather but it can sure control you.
I’m so frustrated with the Wild Cubs that I’m going to wait until the home stand is over and then not attend any more games at CEP. Boycott is all that is left for the fans to do now. If Ima Fraid was telling the truth about what Williams said, there is nothing left to do. Let the Wild Cubs play to an empty house.
Wild Cubs Win! - I'm speechless
