Striz signed by Sox

According to the Twitter accounts of Matt McConnell and Chris Smith, Wild Things closer Nate Striz (pictured) had his contract putchased by the Boston Red Sox.

Striz has a 2-1 record, 3 saves and a 1.46 ERA in nine games with the Wild Things. He has 17 strikeouts and only one walk in 12.1 innings.

Striz pitched 1.1 hitless innings Friday night in Washington's 3-2 win at Florence.

This brings to five the number of former Wild Things in affiliated ball. Striz joins Tom Cochran (Lehigh Valley, Triple-A Phillies), Vidal Nuno (Trenton, Double-A Yankees), Alan Williams (Brevard County, Single-A Brewers) and Mark Williams (Wisconsin, Single-A Brewers).

I just love the way these things go. It makes in unwashed masses think they will be seeing this young man at Fenway Park next week. Anyway, good luck to him.
Heads up for the person responsible for those being honored by the Wild Things. You can now add Rodney King to the list. Actually, I thought Dr. Kevorkian would have been just perfect too, but I’m just a dumb old man! Is what the Wild Things are doing to themselves assisted, or unassisted, suicide?

What's our record, Larry?
12 and 16.
12 and 16... how'd we ever win 12...?
It's a miracle!

It's sad you guys have nothing better to do than rip an unaffiliated ball club on a blog all day. Quit watching of you hate it so much. Apparently they're doing a good enough job--they keep YOU coming back night after night!!

Congrats to Stritz. Too bad we have to lose him off the back end of the staff--not that we've needed as much from the closer as most would like!
