Roster update

Washington's roster continues to change. Here's an update:

Released were sidearming relief pitcher Mickey Cassidy and outfielder James Simmons. Outfielder Mike Miller was traded to Roswell Invaders of the Pecos League. Simmons' release must have come in the last few minutes because he was a participant in batting practice.

Signed were third baseman/catcher Davis Page and outfielder Robbie Garvey. Page was signed Thursday and scored the game-winning run against Gateway. He was acquired from San Angelo of the North American League, where his manager was Doc Edwards. Washington manager Chris Bando played for Edwards when the latter was manager of the Cleveland Indians.

Garvey played two years in the Milwaukee Brewers system after signing as a nondrafted free agent. A native of Las Vegas, Garvey is in the starting lineup tonight in center field.

Outfielder Allen Boyer remains sidelined with a sore shoulder.

Relief pitcher Steve Grife, who is on the supended list, threw a bullpen session before tonight's game. He is eligible to be activated June 1. Grife was on the suspended list because he was an assistant coach at Mercyhurst College and not available for spring training.

The Wild Things are sure obsessed with the Pecos League.
WashPA must be the place where Pecos League players come to destroy their careers, if they even really had one in the first place.

Who is the Wild Things General Manager. Maybe now that the head of CUP was fired, they could get Ross back from being the CUP alethic supporter.

The attendence Tuesday, opening home game was 2038.
Wednesday 702, Thursday 1302, and last night 3202.
Perhaps the secret higher attendence is winning in spite of $5 parking and higher concession prices. Since they lost last night, lets see how many people go tonight.
Maybe it will once again become "the hottest ticket in town"

Why do they need "Ross back"?

The Wild Things are 5-2 this year. Exactly what is the problem?

Another bad idea. Ross was part and parcel of what went wrong with the Wild Things. He was, and still is, an arrogant individual. Also, he will never change.

What the heck, here's my two cents worth. I attended the opener, the attendance was appalling, much like any game during the past few years. Do they even advertise? I have yet to see a single commercial on TV. My co-worker said he never heard a single radio commercial as he worked his way through town for half a day. I wonder if anybody outside of town even knows they exist, or even IN town, for that matter. Horrendous. There was zero atmosphere. And, a scoreless game after 9 innings isn't going to help bring new fans in. People want to see offense. I really miss Chris Sidick, Ernie Banks (the first version, not the sequel), Jacob Dempsey, etc. I don't see any player who is going to generate much excitement, although it's very early in the season, I'll grant you that.

Raising ticket prices when attendance has declined for years is downright stupid. And increasing parking? I have to finally jump on the bandwagon here...it's time to make it free. It's minor league ball, very low minor league. Shouldn't they be showing how much cheaper and fun it is than going to see the Pirates? And really, it isn't. I actually chose the Pirates over the Things last night because it's not much different in price.

I will testify that the concession prices are indeed outrageous and the quality is piss poor. My guests didn't think much of what they had, and the old timer sitting to my right said his hot dog tasted like rubber.

Even if the team has a winning season, I just don't see people packing the ballpark this summer. I've always been a big fan of seeing the Wild Things, but I can't see myself hitting my usual 15 games or so.

Yup,Steve Zavacky is the honcho now waiting to be axed by Williams the next time Stu needs a whipping boy.
Did any of you snicker when you saw the very short lines at the concessison stands last night? I did. Lots of fans in the park and most of them too smart to be voluntarily ripprd-off. Good show fans, keep it going.

The hottest ticket in Washington is for the bus leaving it. Be sure to be on it.
