Labatt Memorial Park

Here are some photos taken by WJPA Radio's Randy Gore of the London Rippers' Labatt Memorial Park.

Labatt Park is the "oldest continually operating baseball grounds in the world," with a history dating back to 1877. It seats 5,200. Among those who have played at Labatt Park are Satchel Paige, Denny McClain, Ferguson Jenkins, Albert Belle, Jeff Bagwell, Bernie Williams and Travis Fryman.

Now if they could only get people to come out to the old ball game!
Less than 500 last night. Less than 600 the night before. One thing is for sure – the playing surface sure beats the artificial crap the Wild Things play on.
Perhaps the Rippers should hire TSE to get their organization on their feet. Just look at the fabulous job they have done for the Wild Things so far this season! I’d be shocked if anybody could name one effective thing this bunch has accomplished.
Since I mentioned it, just what has changed so far this season? After a full series of off-season meetings we were told of all these great things to expect this year. We were told of the great hunt for a Wild Thing Mascot. All we got was this imposter that doesn’t do much of ANYTHING. I’m 75 years old and I can move better than that.
So, we have a new score board, nice. We have a much better MC. And, though not by design, we DO have shorter lines at the concession stands, REALLY good.
We have a manager that doesn’t even come close to what we were led to believe. We also have a first base coach that acts as though he was just let our of a ‘home’ someplace close by. This clown pulls his moron routine while his team is playing horrible baseball. I suppose this is the latest in “professional baseball” in The Frontier League is to bring in the clowns. A lot easier than coaching!
So, the Rippers are going to need some help. I hope they are smarter than to follow the Wild Things example. All downhill for the last five years and gaining speed.

Ima Fraid you forgot the great new website. Nothing but recaps of games. Doesn't even show when or what time the next game is.
This was to be the best website ever. TSE made out all the way round on this deal.

Darn, how did I let that one get past me?
If you really want to get your eyes messed with try this; Go to Schedule, then click on the 'List' option and be ready to watch the illusion effect.
Come to think about it, I think illusion is the word that best describes the season, an illusion.

Chris:
Being that it is right around the corner, does each team have to have a representative on the Frontier League allstar team like MLB?
Which player(s) deserves to be on the team?

The only person that fell for the crap being thrown against the wall at those meetings was Wild Bill. We could all see what a farce it was. As time went on the meetings became less well attended.
You can fool all of the people some of the time, you can fool, yata, yata, yata.
When show time came on opening day, the ones that were not fooled were the ones that never bought any of it in the first place.

Let's not be to hard on Lenny. At least he talks to the fans and certainly does add some character to the team. I sat for a few days, prior to the season beginning, and watched Mr. Randle work very hard with the newly thrown together team. I sure do agree that TSE has done very very little to improve on what we've seen in the past few seasons. Our new MC does a good job given what he has to work with. The new video board and the camera crew and directors certainly have made a noticeable positive difference.

Randle belongs ON THE FIELD - NOT in the stands making a fool of himself. If you think that adds 'character' to the team then your NOT a baseball fan.
If you walked your a** out on the field, where it doesn't belong, you would be promptly removed.
Stay out of my space Bush league Lenny. If you try putting hands on my food you might not be too pleased with your broken fingers.
If this is your idea of coaching you must have already taught them all you which, by the way, can't be much!

It's a little early to start talking all-star game, but I do believe that each FL team must have a rep at the game. As for the Wild Things, my first choice at this point would be Chris Smith. Six outings and six quality starts.

I disagree. I think the in-game entertainment has been much improved this season. Scoreboard/cameras are looking fantastic compared to years previous and Tony does very well as MC. Seems like the "Wild Crew" is often running very short on members. I like the number of interchangeable promos that come and go on nights. You used to be able to set your watch to the sumos wandering out at the same exact time.

My all-star pick is also Chris Smith. Offensively, there's nobody worthy and he's our best bet pitching night-to-night.
