That's a long time
After Justin Hall's four-hit, 98-pitch shutout of the Joliet Slammers Friday night, one thing came to mind: When was the last time a Wild Things pitcher threw a nine-inning complete-game shutout on the road?
I knew that Jeff Sonnenberg's shutout of Lake Erie last August -- when he faced the minimum 27 batters -- ended a long streak of no nine-inning shutouts by Wild Things pitchers, but that game was at home. What about on the road?
I did some research and found a nine-inning whitewash by Aaron Ledbetter in a 3-0 victory at Evansville in a weekday afternoon game June 18, 2007.
Hall's shutout ended a streak of 169 consecutive road games for the Wild Things without a nine-inning shutout.

Ledbetter was the most dominant Wild Things player I've ever seen. Too bad he got no offensive support in that start he made at CEP in the championship series against Windy City. Anybody know what he's up to these days?
That series was also the start of the long downhill skid of the Washington Wild Things. They have just never recovered from that and the controversy that followed.
I wonder how Justin Hall will do one the home field where he does not have a dirt mound?
Also, I will miss the excitement of a player or manager kicking dirt on home plate before or after they are tossed from the game.
Maybe they can use one umpire at CEP since the umpire won't need a broom to clean home plate.
Just not like "real" baseball.
Right, Sarge. It just ain't the same.- that's progress? Enjoy, you paid for it.
In honor of the new field, I think Mr. Soloby and Mr. Gregg shuld throw out the honary firt pitch tomorrow night.
I'll be there to see if it happens.

Please come out of retirement.

Swiss, please come out of seclusion and teach this guy how to spell.
What do you think this is - a spelling bee?
The only thing Swiss has to offer is that he thinks he is superior to anybody else that post here.

I will too. Massarelli was pretty good at that.
