Let's Play Two, v2.0

The announcement Thursday night by the Wild Things that they re-acquired first baseman Ernie Banks in a trade with the Lake County Fielders of the independent North American Baseball League certainly was met with surprise.

It wasn't that Banks didn't produce in his first stint with the Wild Things. In 2009, Banks hit .343 with 19 home runs and 55 RBI in only 54 games with Washington before being sent to River City at the trade deadline. He helped the Rascals make the championship series.

Banks, however, is a guy who wears his emotions on his sleeve. When you're playing well and the team is winning, that often is a good thing. But when you're in a slump or the team is losing, those antics can often make things worse. Washington struggled in 2008 and Banks was suspended by then-manager Mark Mason for a stint that season.

Current Wild Things manager Darin Everson says he understands Banks. That's because he managed Banks in 2008, when both were with the Florida Marlins' affiliate in the New York-Penn League.

"Ernie and I have a great relationship," Everson said Thursday night. "He was with me in 2008 on a team that lost in the finals. I had him all through extended spring training that year. We have a lot of respect for each other.

"He's two years older than when he was here last time. My talk with Ernie was very productive. Everything he said was the right thing. He knows what kind of ship I run. He's at his best when all he has to do with work hard and go play.

"Our roster is filled with experienced players," he continued. "Ernie will be surrounded by guys who played multiple years, and guys he played with in the past. He should feel very comfortable here."

Everson said he likes the idea of plugging a player with Banks' power potential into the middle of the lineup.

"The goal when you put a lineup together is to have one that doesn't give the pitcher a break," Everson said. "Ernie helps lengthen our lineup."

Ernie Banks and I both have something in common.
We are bad boys.

Ernie Banks being back is good and bad news. The guy can hit no doubt about that but, as we have seen in
the past, he certainly has an anger management problem. I sure hope he doesn’t cause embarrassment to himself or the fans as he did the last time he was here. I really don’t want my children hearing that sort of language again. Temper tantrums galore and throwing things out of the dugout.
Now, as far as Darin Everson’s comments about “he knows what kind of ship I run”, unfortunately judging from last year’s performance, so do the rest of us. Do the words Titanic, or sinking, ring a bell? I predict the Everson will not have the stones to bench this guy. Everson seems to be too emotional when it comes to handling players. He seems afraid to be the BOSS.

Wish I'd had a chance to read them.
Cencership by any other name is still cencership.

“Banks, however, is a guy who wears his emotions on his sleeve.”

Since we now have an ‘unmentionable’ subject on this blog how about speaking the truth about the fabulous Ernie Banks. The quote from Chris is just a diplomatic way of stating what sort of man Ernie is. In plain words – he is almost what you might refer to as a (I guess I dare not say what I really think).. This man has no self-control.
The Wild Things are inviting trouble all over again. They sure didn’t seem to learn from their last experience with him. So-called “emotions” are just fine with most players because they don’t let them
control their actions. Mr. Banks has proven that this is not true in his case. Everson will not, indeed cannot,
keep this man from blowing up. When it does happen, and it will, Everson will probably just wimp it all away in order to keep himself healthy.
Signing Banks again just proves that this organization never learns. I love to watch his towering homeruns just as much as anyone but……………….I’m just saying that you better duck when he gets pissed off, which is often.

Censorship began several years ago, I believe it was Maz's last year with the WT when he banned Chis Dugan from the locker room and didn't allow the players to talk to Chris.
Sound familiar?
PS-I don't think the WT have not received near the press since.
History repeats itself!

This is the first time Chris Dugan has censored anything, at least as I can recall.
It’s very disappointing that he has allowed name-calling and even the “F” bomb to be dropped
regarding me. So now we have an ‘unmentionable’ subject but name-calling and anonymous posting
to hide whom you are is ok. Go figure. Can’t discuss how the surface at Consolbay Energy Pooltable
was paid for, but you can say just about anything else about anyone.
From now on I too join the ‘Anonymous’ crowd. At least nobody can aim his or her “F” bombs at me
without Chris not bothering to say a word. I can’t say the ‘unmentionable’ word unless he says it’s alright. Must be in some sort of context that HE feels appropriate. What a crock of manure that is.
I was held POW so this could happen? This country sure as heck (no swear words allowed) has taken a nosedive. So, fell free to express yourself as long as you agree with the ‘power’s that be’ otherwise, shut you face
up. At least that’s how I read it. As usual the power brokers have it their way. These folks are embarrassed by the fact their underhanded shenanigans are receiving attention and wanted to stop. With Chris’s help,
they have accomplished. “THE PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD” – Never forget that!

Don't go starting something. I forgot about that guy. Now, if we could just forget about Ernie, too.
