Suspensions from the Florence fiasco

Suspensions handed down from the Frontier League for the benches-clearing incident Wednesday night between the Wild Things and Florence Freedom:

Florence manager Toby Rumfield - 5 games
Washington hitting coach Jon Cahill - 2 games
Washington pitcher Andy Schindling - 1 game

According to WJPA Radio's Randy Gore, Schindling's suspension was not for anything directed at Florence players or coaches, it was for saying something to umpire Jim Scahly.

There was no mention of the league's five-ejection rule that requires a manager to serve an automatic three-game (or is it five-game?) suspension after his team's fifth ejection. Washington has six ejections on the season.

What an embarrassment to the league that Rumfield only gets 5 games in this suspension. This was not an isolated incident. The people in River City can tell you about all the explosions Rumfield had last season including a very similar incident with Southern Illinois that is on You Tube.

It don't surprize me that things get out of control with Jim Shalley umpiring. He is the most unprofessional sports official I've ever seen.

What a clown.

He thinks baseball fans go to the park to watch him.

Watch any pro game and see if the umpire talks to the first baseman and first base coach (who leave the coaching box some twenty feet) continually throughout the game.I sometimes wonder why we don't have three umpires so the third base coach would have someone to talk to too.

Another nailbiter tonight. Great job by Zach Groh to settle down after a rough 1st inning. And Nick Peterson is quickly becoming the "Cardiac Kid", starting the fire and then putting it out in the 9th. Huge called strikeout on Florence's Matt Stiffler for the 2nd out with the bases loaded.

Sorry to see Michael Parker's hitting streak end last night, but he's right back at it tonight. 2/4 with a walk, a stolen base, and scoring the winning run.

First time over .500 this season, let's hope they keep the momentum going against Midwest.

You posted that at 2:50 A.M.......LMFAO!!! Your hatred of me keeps you awake at night, and you find it necessary to vent so you can sleep? Great post, way to make a positive contribution to the blog! By the way, you missed an apostrophe in the word "its". By the way, thanks for the slander. Sorry to disappoint you, but I am not gay. Was that you in the restroom stall doing the Senator Larry Craig imitation?

I could not agree more on the Schaly comment. He must really believe that he is the show. Its continual and everywhere he goes. And don't get fooled by his "friendliness" with the coaches, he is as "red-ass" as they come. Any "questioning" of a Shaly call will bring quick, biting responses. He has a long memory and baits players continually. The worst part is this guy is a supervisor. No wonder the umpiring is so bad in the league. When this guy and the other one O'Connell are setting examples with their aggressive behavior.

Not only that, he is a pain in the rear end as well. Mr. Know it all himself.
Hey Swiss - I listened to the game last night but could not understand a thing! Who won?

"I listened to the game last night but could not understand a thing! "

then you're stupid, and it doesn't matter if someone told you who won. you wouldn't know the difference. most of you people need to get a job doing meaningful work.

You have 3 errors. Are you Grant Psomas? And that is only a harmless joke, he's a good player. Put a comma after Swisscheda, capitalize the "p" in please, and correctly is spelled wrong, possibly on purpose? Are you STILL holding a grudge because I wouldn't let you copy off of me in 4th grade English class? Let it go!

To answer your question, the Sliders defeated the Wild Things by a score of 5-2. Catcher Alan Robbins threw out 3 would-be basestealers, however he struck out looking with the bases loaded in the 8th inning. You've got to swing at anything close in that situation.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great Sunday. And to quote John Walsh, remember, "you can remain anonymous"!

So, how is calling yourself Swisscedar any different from calling yourself anonymous? Either way, nobody knows who you are!
Swiss, please correct anything I may have done that pisses you off.
You are just sooo smart that I get a tingle up my leg reading your stuff!

It's Swisscheda, how hard can it really be? "You" does not have an "e" at the end of it. And it seems like I got you off....hope it was as good for you as it was for me.

Not on your life, pal. Believe it or not, there ARE people with a brain that read the blog. When is the last time you read "I really enjoy reading your post, anonymous." Of course, it doesn't help when you are 1 of a million brave, anonymous posters. That was a reasonably intelligent post, though. Better than most, hats off to you.

Swisscedar??? Are you folks REALLY that stupid, or do you just love giving me more ammunition to pound you? How is it different? Well, nobody else can sign in with my name. Everybody knows it came from me only. Once again, another moronic post from an anonymous hero.

Folks, honestly this has gotten boring. I'm an intelligent individual, certainly not an Ivy League graduate or anything like that. But you make it SEEM like that compared with your posts. It's just not worth the time anymore. And it all started when I defended Bill D. as a good announcer? If you are going to berate somebody as being incompetent, then how about writing a decent post, one that doesn't look like it was sent by text message by a pixie stick eating 14 year old, while riding on a skateboard to the body piercing shop? I am a postive person, I clearly do not fit in with your kind. If you can't enjoy going to a Wild Things game, you have no pulse. I only hope Reverend Jim Jones can come back from the grave and open a Kool-Aid stand at CEP and remove you from your misery. Relax, that is just a joke, I don't wish illwill on anyone. But pull that stick out of your butt and enjoy the game and atmosphere! Go Wild Things!

BEAM ME UP, SCOTTY! THERE IS NO INTELLIGENT LIFE DOWN HERE!!!!!!

Chris Dugan, thank you for all the questions you have answered for me. It has only increased my enjoyment of following the Frontier League. I don't plan on visiting anymore, because it's just gotten incredibly boring with the Jerry Springer mentality that goes on, rather than discussing baseball. Chris, keep up the great work and the best of luck to you. The world needs more like you.

To the people who enjoyed reading my posts, thank you. It was my pleasure. Support the Wild Things, and let's hope the miserable haters don't run them out of town. When the highlight of your weekend in Washington is going to a garage sale, perhaps you will miss them.

Best of luck!

Swiss, I say continue to post and ignore the comments.

I host a player and discuss the game with him after, I attend all the home games, I listen to Radio Randy on the radio for the away games, I read the sports page in the O-R and I still enjoy reading your recaps. Many different perspectives.

So Swiss...I will look forward to another post from you!

p.s. For those who do not like the announcer, bring a portable radio to the field and listen to Radio Randy w/ ear phones. I did last week and enjoyed the game even more.

Don't let the nayslayers take over this blog. We need the positive comments here for the intelligent people who like to talk baseball. I'm very sorry for those of you who have such a miserable life that you are always hateful to us who prefer to be positive. So come back all of you who like to talk baseball, we need you. Don't let the losers win. IGNORE THEM!!!
