Two chosen for all-star game
The Frontier League announced its preliminary all-star rosters for the game next week in Schaumburg, Ill.
Only two Wild Things were selected, pitcher Kyle Helisek and middle infielder Austin Wobrock.
Helisek has a 4-2 record and 1.92 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 37 innings.
Wobrock is Washington's third-leading hitter with a .266 batting average. He has only eight runs and five RBI but has committed just four errors in 39 games.
Three players will be added to both the East and West teams as manager selections. Two Washington players who should be considered are utility player Sam Mende (.278, 5 HR, 19 RBI) and pitcher Matt Sergey (3-3, 2.33, 59 strikeouts in 54 IP, 1.07 WHIP).
Washington's two selections ties it with Florence and the Greys for the fewest players on the East team. Gateway had only one player voted to the West team.
