Remember this guy?
Brent Metheny |
You might recall that Brent Metheny, the former manager of the Frontier Greys, began the season as Washington's third-base coach and its hitting instructor. Metheny lasted about four series before being "dismissed" for reasons that were never clearly explained. What I've been told is it was simply a difference of opinion with manager Bob Bozzuto.
Metheny wasn't unemployed very long. By mid-June he was hired as the hitting coach for the Sussex Miners in the Can-Am League. Earlier this month, Metheny was promoted to interim manger, replacing former major league pitcher Steve Shirley, who took a leave of absence.
Here is a link to a story about Metheny's promotion. I find it interesting that Metheny's time with Washington was not mentioned:

I was surprised by the removal coach Metheny. I had a conversation with him at the season ticket holder picnic, and actually thought he might make a difference. He was here one day and gone the next. Best of luck to him in his new position.
You don't mention your prior employer when you are fired.
I am not surprised Washington was not included.
OT but nevertheless important.
For all those that know avid Wild Things fan, and season ticket holder, Jude Pohl(and those who don't know him also). Jude suffered a major set-back in his recovery from open heart surgery last Thursday. Please say a prayer for him and his wife, Shirley. They really need our support right now.
Thanks and God bless.

Kudos to Austin Wobrock for being so accommodating to all the young fans that want his auto graph. Several times I've seen him be the last Wild Thing to go to the clubhouse after a game, never leaving a young fan disappointed. Nice young man..

The Mild Things really stink this year. The Rebellion really stink. It's quite the odor coming from CEP.
To Natura, a good reporter would have taken 30 seconds and done a Google search for the guy's name in an attempt to fill the holes in his bio. Even a bad reporter would do that.
Chris:
Nice article in the O-R yesterday about former Wild Things players in pro affiliated ball. I think the Wild Things should retire Nuno's number since he was the only fromer Wild Thing players the play in the majors and only the second to be called up (Tom Cochran, left handed pitcher was called up by Cincinnati but never threw a pitch in the majors before being assigned back to AAA).
