Banda released

Josh Banda, who started the season hitting in the No. 3 spot in the Wild Things' lineup but struggled offensively all season, was released Thursday by the Wild Things.

During the offseason, Washington traded its first-round draft pick to River City in exchange for Banda, who hit 14 home runs last year for the Rascals. Banda added four more home runs during the postseason as the Rascals won their first league championship.

In Washington, however, Banda lost his hitting touch. He was batting only .127 (8-for-63) with no home runs and one RBI. He struck out 27 times.

Banda was replaced on the roster by Bryan Fogle, a former NCAA Division II Playerof the Year at Erskine College in South Carolina. Fogle hit .420 with 28 home runs and 103 RBI in2010, his final season at Erskine. He was drafted in the 32nd round last year by Tampa Bay and played rookie ball in Princeton (W.Va.), where he was teammates with current Wild Things Justin Hall and Scott Lawson.

I just can't see that Ochoa is that good of a catcher either. I see a lot of pitched balls get past him. Plus, too many K's.

It’s also time to dump the team owners.
Time to stew Stu
Time to fry Frantic Frani
These two are right up there with the Kalamazoo Kings owner Bill Wright.
Frantic Frani came into CEP about 3 years ago like a bull in a china shop and, in a very short time had ALL the employees hating her. She was so inept that she even screwed up the parking lot. How do you do that? Talk about having more money than brains! That was a perfect example of it.

As for Blake Ochoa, I don’t think it’s time to dismiss his value just yet but I think he really
does need to improve his performance. For my money, the poorest performer the Wild Things
have is Darin Everson. He has managed this team for one full season, and now is almost mid-way through
his second season. Can any one see that he is doing a good job? The team is no different from when he
took over from Mark Mason. Chris Sidick is the only Wild Things player that seem to even much care. I
see NO pride displayed by this bunch at all. Kinda’ makes me think the team reflects the ownership’s
lack of performance. The last two games against certainly does not mean this team is improving. Rockford is probably the worst team in the Frontier League.

Chris:
Am I right that last night and Wednesday were the two lowest attendence in the 10 year history of the Wild Things.
Amazing with Rockford, probably the only team you expect the Wild Things to beat.
With tonight being fireworks, I doubt if it will be 3 nights of the lowest attendence in a row.
However, it may be the lowest attendence on a fireworks night.
Are we seeing the path for an exit of Frontier League baseball in Washington?

I’m not Chris, but I’ll take a shot at that question. Unless the owners start listening to the teams supporters,
the answer is an unqualified – yes! The Wild Things are losing season ticket holders at an alarming rate. My wife, and I are probably going to be among the next group to join the ones that have already gone..
As with any business, you just can’t continue to insult the intelligence of your customers. These jokers
continue to go on with business as usual because they are so damn smug with their political connections.
First they get a deal cut where WE pay for their playing surface. Somehow, Washington Country Tourism
got cut into the deal, so our money also nets them a new car. Go figure.
What have the taxed citizens benefited from all this? Damned if I know. I have heard all the BS propaganda that has been tossed around but, when I look around, nothing has really changed at all, has it? Not exactly a flood of tourist, an ill performing team AND, ownership indifference. We were, once again sold a bill of goods that the stupid taxpayers approved. All nice and legal, all very well covered up. Nothing new in that!
So, the Wild Things play on a pretty new field that spews ugly black plumes every time a ball touches it.
We get screwed. That’s what happens when you keep voting for the same old scoundrels!
If the organization survives the next few years, we will undoubtedly have the privilege of replacing that turf for them, also. We. on the other hand, will have the same old rude service at the over-priced food concession stands, the same old non responses to the customers concerns as we see today, and even worse, the same old lack of concern by the attorney dominated ownership group, plus horrible on field performance.
The only hope for this organization is new ownership. With the way the Wild Things are bleeding customers, the present group of greedy b******s just may decide to bail. God, how I hope so. Otherwise,
I just can’t see how this franchise can survive.

Last night's paid attendence was 2177. Is this the lowest attendence for a fireworks night?
Also was this the lowest 3 game series attendence of all 10 years?
I think we will see lower attendence as the season goes on.
You would think the Wild Things management would use some creative marketing such as bogo tickets or other options to draw bigger crowds.
Quality baseball is not working.

While talking with a friend at the game last night, he pointed out to me about where the Wild Things have made a vast improvement. He said it was at the concession stands. The Wild Things have driven so many people away from CEP that now there are no lines at all. Good point. See, you can make improvements if you only try!

Meanwhile, back on the playing field, Everson again waited until the horse was out of the barn before locking the door.

That really was a clever solution to the long lines problem. I would have never thought of that.

To answer Disa Pointed's questions:

No, the 2,177 is not the smallest crowd for a fireworks nights but, yes, the 4,556 attendance for the Rockford series is the smallest for a three-game series in the Wild Things' history. The old mark was 4,988.

let's see---here's a guy who's weight is higher than his batting average, nearly double in fact.

washington let's him go, he joins river city. gets a walk and an rbi in first game, a three-run homerun in his second...

what's different? hmmmmm...there it is--river city actually has a hitting coach. could it be?

appears the .176 average in five games with river city was too "rascalian" for them----
