Making the call in Omaha
According to a story in the Marietta Times, Frontier League umpire Jim Schaly, pictured, will be one of the eight umpires working the College World Series beginning this weekend in Omaha, Neb.
Schaly had been the Frontier League's supervisor of umpires for 17 years, until giving up the job this season. Schaly was the home-plate umpire in this year's Big Ten tournament championship game and worked the Atlanta Regional that was won by Mississippi State. This will be Schaly's first College World Series.
According to the Times, Schaly, 49, has a limited Frontier League schedule this season, working only games played in Washington.

WHAT THE HELL! We give these jerks a field so we would NOT have rain outs. Now the jerks call a game off because of rain. I want my money back - not for my ticket but for the TPT>
DAMN IT!
What we need is a domed stadium to prevent rain outs. We already have TPT.
What kind of machine do they use to suck up rain water on the TPT field?
A TPvacuumi?
Do you get a rain check on the $3.00 parking charge?
Turf doesn't make it stop raining people.
Thw field should not ever need to be drained. It does it it's without human hands. Ain't it just grand? NOOOTTT!
This year’s edition of the Washington seems to be fairly near the same as last year’s.
Same old Everson style of managing, same old no clutch hitting, same old keeping players in the line-up that are not producing, this year it is Ernie Banks that isn’t coming through. This is a dominant hitter? . Banda isn’t exactly tearing up the League.
Also, I’m still not convinced that Ochoa is what the Wild Things need as a catcher. I know he was a big hero in last night’s game, but overall, just average, at best. I see an awful large number of pitches get by him. To be fair, from where I sit I don’t have a great angle but I just saying………
The 2011 Wild Things also seem to that the ability to made the least of the most. They should have been able to put that second game away with ease.
I notice that the scoreboard operator doesn’t flash passed ball/wild pitch this season. Any reason for that?
What was all the fuss about the call at home plate last night? The runner seemed out of the baseline to me.

Wow:
Only 2138 paid attendence in a double header, Friday night fireworks night. This has to be an all time low attendence for a Friday night fireworks.
I wonder what the attendence would have been if they did not have fireworks.
It looks like the fans are really turned off.
I did not go to the games last night but listened to it on WJPA.
The radio station carried the first game on AM and cut into the Pirates game after the conclusion of the first game and carried the second game on FM.
Why would WJPA split the games?
Did they honor the rain check for parking from Thursday night?
If they honor the ticket, you should have free parking on a rainout make up game.
Can any one answer?
Ochoa is a large reason why the pitching staff has been pitching as well as they have been (and keeping the Wild Things above water while they find their bats).
