Ex-Wild Thing starting in Class AAA
Former Wild Things pitcher Tom Cochran will begin the season tonight playing for the Louisville Bats, the Cincinnati Reds' Class AAA affiliate.Cochran, who played two seasons (2006-07) with Washington and three overall in the Frontier League, will be a starting pitcher for the Bats. Among the other pitchers in Louisville's starting rotation is former National League Cy Young Award winner Dontrelle Willis.
The last two years, Cochran pitched the majority of the season with Cincinnati's Class AA affiliate -- compiling a 12-11 record -- before being promoted late in each season to Triple-A. Cochran, who is not on the Reds' 40-man roster, started one playoff game for Louisville last season.
Cochran is one of two players who have reached Class AAA after playing for the Wild Things. Pitcher Patrick Stanley appeared in one game (getting the win) for the Pawtucket Red Sox in 2009.

So, Ochoa started the 2010 season in AAA. That didn’t add up to very much for him. Cochran needs to maintain consistency or his days in baseball are numbered. Age is working against him right now. We should all applaud him for his persistent pursuit of his dream. Way to go Tom!!!!

If a Wild Things player ever makes the major leagues even if for a day during the regular season, his Wild Things number should be retired.

If it were not for the two disqualifying factors, I would like to see Barry Bonds come to the Frontier League. It will never happen because Barry has more than “aged” out, and now the revelation that he
has TB. Not tuberculoses but, as described by his ex-girlfriend, tiny ba**s! Damn, I’m disappointed about that, I wanted to see him hit one to the South Franklin Twp.VFD parking lot.
I think Tom Cochran finished the season with the Louisville Bats last year. If you want to watch him pitch you can sign up with MiLB TV for $30 for the entire minor league season. They show a lot of the Bats games and the picture quality is reasonably good. I think it’s a good investment.
BTW: When does the Frontier League start their spring training?

I don't think Ochoa started last year at Triple-A. I think he ended up there for a few days in late May or early June after Adam Moore was injured in Seattle and the Triple-A catcher was called up to the majors. Ochoa was probably plugged into the backup catcher role.

The taxpayers. Simple as that. BTW: Taxpayers include ALL Americans whether local, or otherwise.
We are ALL taxpayers. Sugarcoat it anyway you wish but it’s still money highjacked by government for use by special interest groups. Follow the money – period.

Anyone else notice the Wild Things are playing 3 morning games including the 2nd game of the season? Nothing like screwing season-ticket holders who work during the day.
That allows the grounds crew a chance to cut the grass. What's a'matter with you?
It’s probably so the tourist can have more time to gawk at our bombed out downtown Washington.
the day games are actually an attempt to attract schools for rewards days, etc. They are on days that are low attendance (historically). I'm sure if any of you malcontents called the wild things' offices, they'd be more than happy to talk to you about those games, and all your other questions.
