Turf work continues

Installation of the ProGrass playing surface is continuing this week at Consol Energy Park. Note that the pitcher's mound is in and much of the dirt-colored infield turf. You should be able to click on the photo and get a larger image.

We fans and the Wild Things Management and Baseball Scholarships are so fortunate to have willing taxpayers in Washington County and Pa. to fund the taxpayer turf.

I'm all for natural grass on a baseball field, but you have to admit that is the best Consol Energy Park has looked in 5 years. Now let's hope we get a winning team to replace the one we have been watching for the past 4 seaons!

Here is what I think should happen now that phony; taxpayer turf is a reality. First, we just have to accept the fact it’s a done deal. Next, in a move that would show our appreciation for Timmy Consolbay’s role in
this fiasco, I think we should set up a collection to repay what he owes Consol Energy for his trip to the Super Bowl. I am convinced by his statements that HE intends to pay it back. However, in gratitude for
all he has done for the WT, and for us fans, can’t we also do something nice for him, too?

So, with The Washington Wild Things permission of course, I would like to maintain a collection
station at my seat located in Section 104 Row G Seat 1, where you can show both Solon Solobay, and
the WT management, just how grateful we all are for the beautiful new concept of “baseball played on a pool table”. We all just clamored for it for years, and now we have it. Since we have already been ask to pay for it then, why not thank the Solon by buying his Super Bowl trip also.

To show my gratitude, I will, in fact, I already have, made the first donation to this fund. The total
amount in the appropriately named “Thanks for Nothing” fund is now - 1 cent. I will keep a running update as this fund grows to astronomical figures by mid July.

So, right here, right now, I’m asking The Washington Wild Things permission to collect for this very
deserving cause. I will consider a refusal to collect for this cause to be a legitimate reason to doubt just
how good a friend they are to Solon Solobay.

BTW: Cash donations only!

Say, Mr. Natural Grass......
most of the taxpayers don't have even the slightest idea that they are helping to pay for it. They are among the uninformed masses that Solobay, and his ilk, such as the Wild Things, prey on. These people need to wake up!

I feel sorry for the person who has a ticket for Section 104 Row G Seat 2 for opening day. Ron might internally combust when he sees the field in person.

I'm sure it will be beautiful BUT,
it still isn't grass. If God would have intented for grass to be plastic with little black rubber marbles in it, then he would have made it that way.
As I expressed above, I'm sooo darn grateful that I want to give something back to these fine folks.
What's the matter with that? Just can't please any of my critics.
Don't be so negative and give to the "Thanks For Nothing Fund"! Geez.

Do you actuality believe Flappin Lips Solobay will accept the 2 bucks or so you might collect.
He certainly isn’t on the take is he? I’d never think that in a thousand years. Have the Wild Things given you their permission yet. I will throw in 2 pennies if that will help. I sure hope the Wild Things make a hefty contribution. Their probably so tight they will just ignore even there best political friends.
I’m sure Solobay has paid for his own tickets to the Wild Things games too. Haw Haw.

Now that they have taxpayer turf, it won't be a wet dream.
I can't wait for the first rain out!
Do you think there will be any critics?

The rain outs will be due to raid actually happening at/during the games, not 2-3 days in advance.

As far as for rain outs, I don’t much care. If the WT want to pay to an empty house in the rain, it’s their call. I won’t sit in the rain to watch Frontier League baseball. I won’t sit in the rain to attend a concert, or any other kind of event.
I can easily see how the WT things, during inclement weather, will use the turf to trick you into thinking they will play a game as soon as the rain stops. This will mean longer delays before they finally postpone
a game. It adds up to selling a lot at the concession stands while you are bored to death drinking beer, coffee, diet Coke, while eating rancid hotdogs, etc. Some of you will actually BS each other into thinking the Frontier League is actually just one step below MLB. I talked to a guy at Wal Mart a couple of years ago that said he watched MLB on TV and the Wild Things played just as well as the Yankees! I almost fainted. Perhaps he meant some Little League Yankees. I can hear it now: “Next batter for your Washington Wild Things…”Babe RUTH, proudly sponsored by Tim CONSOLOBAY!!!!” Most of you will actually believe it.

I won’t wait for over an hour for a delayed game to start. There is always an issue with the seats being wet (the ushers will wipe your seat AND expect a gratuity) but they still remain damp and uncomfortable. It
also usually remains humid and cold after the game starts. Not worth staying as far as I’m concerned. But
if anybody wants to stay at CEP under those conditions, I say - knock yourselves out. It’s not for me though.

Curmudgeon must be made of sugar. Sounds like he will melt if he gets wet. Perhaps the Wild Things should have asked for a dome instead of turf.

"Curmudgeon must be made of sugar"
Yes, AND he is twice as sweet. To know him is to love him. Since I'm his wife I should know.
It's not about him melting, it's about sitting around waiting for something that isn't worth the wait.
If that's what you want to do, go ahead and do it.

If you don't want to wait, don't.
If you don't like the rain, stay home.

This isn't forced attendance.
This isn't mandatory servitude.

I have never seen so few people complain about so many things and still go to the place that causes them so much aggravation....
