Wild Things strike out at deadline

And so did almost every other team in the league. The only trade was the Rockford Aviators picking up a pitcher from the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings of the independent United League for a player to be named.
Washington did make one roster move, releasing catcher Cole Martin, a rookie out of the University of Michigan. Martin batted .357 (5-for-14) with three doubles and seven RBI in five games after being signed July 30.
The move leaves Washington with the league-minimum 22 active players.
With 16 games remaining the regular season, Washington trails first-place Evansville by one game in the East Division. Southern Illinois is 1½ games back of the Otters and Lake Erie is in fourth place, only two games out of first. Each division winner and the four remaining teams with the best records will qualify for the playoffs. Lake Erie currently holds the final playoff spot.
Washington is off until Wednesday (6:05 p.m.) when it hosts West Division-leader River City in a doubleheader. It’s the opening games in a six-game homestand that includes the Wild Things retiring the jersey number of Chris Sidick Friday night.
All 16 of the Wild Things' remaining games will be played against teams currently with a winning percentage of at least .568.

Trade assistant general managers, why would you do that? You have to stand in line for this kind of entertainment. Wacky Zavacky and his merry band of know-nothings are a blast to have in town. Who else could run a winning team into the ground and still think so much of himself. Who else could have a team so far over 500 and have less than 500 fans in the park. One rarely gets to see "The Peter Principal" demonstrated to perfection!

We should be so lucky! Also should send his buddy Gryboski with him. Wouldn't you just know those to would be friends? It figures.
Really sorry to see the WT didn't lose both games tonight.
I, for the only time ever, have to agree with Wacky. We need to "Pack the Park" BUT, only on Friday night. We all need to show up to honor the best ever Wild Things player, Chris Sidick. When this man played for the Wild Things he made us all proud and made the game exiting to watch. He NEVER failed to give all he had in every game he played. He left a legacy of determination and true sportsmanship that we all will remember. We need to show him how much we appreciate his efforts. There will never be another Chris Sidick.
After Friday, go home remember the night and, if you are wise, don't return to CEP until we have an ownership and Asst. GM that actually knows what the hell they are doing and has respect for their customers. I personally, would rather see the ballpark go dark than continue on as the boring, disgusting place it is now thanks to Stu, Steve, and dirtbag Kevin Gryboski.
Sitting here at Consol Energy Park watching a pretty good baseball game. The plan was is packed. Chris Sidick's number retired. This player owns almost every Frontier League record. One thing amazes me though. Why was he never signed with "the big leagues"?

If that is what you call a pretty good baseball game then, with all due respect, you know nothing about baseball. Wild throws, baserunning mistakes galore in just the first two innings. I think you probably confuse good baseball as being any game the Wild Things are winning. The Wild Things have been the beneficiaries
of poor play by their opponets in many of their wins this year.
Well, I've always heard it's better to be luck than good. That has been the case with the Wild Things so far in the 2014 season. I guess it's not how you score runs, it's just a case of how many runs you score. They all count. There is a very noticeable lack of talent in some of the League's teams this season.

I don't know what game you were watching Friday night Anon 10:37, but I saw two diving catches by outfielders, a center fielding make a catch while crashing into the outfield wall, two home runs, good relief pitching, a jersey number retirement, a league record set, a terrific defensive play by the visiting team's second baseman and a 4-2 game. Sounds like a good game to me, possibly the most entertaining of the season.
An yes, there is a lack of overall talent in the league at this point. But, that's because 33 players -- the equivalent of an entire team's roster plus the starting nine of another team -- have been picked up by major league affiliates. That's a record for the league to this point. Lake Erie is the only team not to have a player purchased by an MLB club, so every other team is operating at a lesser level than they could have been. Overall, this year saw more talent in the league than any other since the Wild Things have been on the Frontier.
What game were you watching? I stand by my previous statement. Friday nights game was probably won of the best games this season.
Thanks for your input Chris. Can you explain why Sidick never made it to the affiliates?
Chris didn't have the strongest arm, which worked against him. I've also heard that he would have made less money by going to affiliated ball because that would mean shutting down his baseball academy for the spring and summer.
Yes that does make sense.
