Marks named Pitcher of the Week

Though the Wild Things have been in first place in the Frontier League’s East Division for the majority of the season they did not have a player receive one the league’s top weekly honors until Monday.

Washington right-hander Troy Marks was named the Frontier League Pitcher of the Week after compiling a 2-0 record and 0.63 ERA in two starts.

Marks pitched 14 1/3 innings and allowed only five hits and one run in wins over Evansville and the Frontier Greys. Marks had 20 strikeouts and walked only one batter during the week. He took a no-hitter into the seventh inning Saturday night against the Greys.

After joining the Wild Things July 23, Marks has made three starts, compiling a 3-0 record and 0.92 ERA.

The Normal CornBelters’ Sam Judah was named the Hitter of the Week after going 15-for-32 with three doubles, two home runs and eight RBI.

The Wild Things made one roster move Monday, placing left-handed pitcher Zach LeBarron on the 7-day disabled list. LeBarron (1-2, 4.50) has not pitched since July 28.

Below is an excerpt from the Wild Things Tap Bozzuto as Manager piece, written for the team website.

“Boz knows the team, the organization and is respected by the winning team he helped build,” said Steven Zavacky, Assistant General Manager of the Wild Things. “He has been an asset to this organization since he started working with us over a decade ago, and I believe he is the best choice to take the reins as we head further into our playoff run.”

Pretty sure Boz started UNDER a decade ago, Steven. 2005 if memory serves me better than it serves him.

Additionally, since when did the playoffs begin? You can't be on a playoff run with the regular season still going on.

This is why Steve should never talk ever. And definitely not be quoted. Yikes. This is the intelligence of your general manager, Washington.

And what does that rant have to do with Marks being the pitcher of the week?

Steve Z your articulate fool!
Wasn't Boz shown the door during the Bando Era? Wasn't Jelks promised with on uncertain terms, he was coming back in '09. These people are just jerks and full of crap. My face would get red too if all I did was lie...to everyone!

Wait just a darn minute, Maz! He is NOT our Asst. GM. He is the property of the Napoleon Complex suffering Stu Williams. And I do mean property! Purchased, including mind, body, and soul. Not very many people are willing to be 'bought' but the mindless, gutless, Steve went after it in the same way a stupid fish goes after a hook with a worm on it. Williams sucked this guy in in the exact same way. Old Steve deserves everything that he is NOT going to get from Williams, mainly money!
As for the other Adam Henry, Kevin Gryboski, who gives a crap about that worthless subhuman

I tend to agree with Anonymous 7:58. What does any of this have to do with Troy Marks being named Pitcher of the Week?

This is what this blog has become, Chris. Honestly, it should just be shut down.

There is no meaningful or coherent discussions regarding well-performing players or the team in general. Best record in the league, no support.

Just stop approving continious "management bashing" comments and maybe this place will be a useful outlet.

Chris, there is no other story. The Wild Things are suffering from what happens when an owner is so completely ego driven.
If there was much interest in the pitcher of the week that's is what we would be talking about.
The Wild Things owner has created a lot of self inflicted problems that have brought the focus onto the organization and not the team.
Only he can correct that.
Don't hold your breath on that one!

I'll say this. NOTHING that ANYBODY says on this blog will have any effect on the way matters have fallen to at CEP.
No matter what you say, do, or think, you will NOT ever either persuade, nor dissuade, Stu Williams from doing anything
he damn well pleases. This was as obvious as a horse turd on a tennis court from the very start of his ownership.
Up until recently I felt that because it was his team, his money, and his prestige on the line, that he had every right
to do as he wished. I did not agree with a lot of it but, since I'm disliked by the management to begin with, I shied away
from any more involvement i.e.; no suggestions and stopped attending Season Ticket Holders meetings. I stopped asking any
questions. For the most part there was never any intelligent answer anyway.
However, Mr. Williams has stepped over the line of having any idea of what is right and wrong. Retaining Kevin Gryboski
has to be the most ridiculous breach of decency ever seen in the Frontier League. It is not a forgivable act. It send the message that any behavior, no matter how outrageous, will be tolerated by the present ownership. To me it just demonstrates the lack
of respect for seniors. Let’s not forget that many, if not most of the Season Ticket holders, just happen to fall into that category.
However, management does like the color of their money! No matter if he would change his mind tomorrow, which will not happen,
he has shown us that he has no qualms about doing ANYTHING just to show that he can. As more than one person as said on this blog,
“Just Win Baby”. Ethics be damned. BTW: NONE of us are buying the Zeller “Health reasons” story Stu. I seriously doubt you do either.
At least Bob Didier had the good sense to get out of here. No sense waiting around for the next bad thing to happen with a loose cannon in the dugout!
Now, as for Steve Savacky. Steve and I have had our differences but, I think it’s very unfair to him to say some of what has
been said without at least having the courtesy to identify yourself. "Anonymous" may be just fine if you are not
making a personal attack but it’s NOT okay to use it to hide just who you are. Policy matters are one thing, personal attacks
are entirely different.
I have ceased being a Wild Things fan. I now attend just because I like to watch baseball. I have never been what you would
call a”homer” anyway. I could not care less if the Wild Things win, or lose. What has transpired over the last 15 days has shown
there is no concept of integrity in the way things are handled, or more correctly, mishandled.

Then put your comment under a post about the manager. It's hard to have a conversation when comments about the same subject are posted randomly throughout various other posts. If you were commenting about a fracking story in the O-R, then you wouldn't put it on a story about a drug bust, would you?

Chris, is there a way to notify readers that a new comment has been added to a previous subject?
If that could be done the readers could go directly to subject they to read rather than to sort through the archives. Just a thought.
I strongly disagree with Anon at 11.55 Am. This is just some person that wants you to shut down the blog just because he disagrees with most of what is said. Probably just another WT management suck up.
Then there is another stupid post by the apologist Jeff at 8.21 PM.
IMHO, the WT management has really screwed up a good thing by allowing the spotlight fall on them with all their failings. When a team doesn't play well the attendance at least in most cases will decline. Conversely, when a team improves, the attendance will improve. This is not the case with the WT. Fans are staying away in large numbers. Many season ticket holders are now regular no-shows. If these where not added to the game attendance figures, it would show in more graphic detain just how poor the attendance is. Most of the larger crowds show up on nights when groups show up to watch fireworks. They rarely return after that one night at the park.
Also, it's really considerate of the WT to have Wayne go around to Wal-Mart, etc. giving away cheap seat tickets to just anybody that will take them. Oh yeah, the freebie ticket holders that do show up are permitted to sit in damn good box seats, many times my seat, and are permitted to remain there unless challenged by an usher. That rarely happens. Of course we were promised by Stu Williams that would NEVER be permitted, "that's you seat" he said, "you paid for it, you own it" he said. but has he kept that promise? I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count.......

Still waiting for Anonymous 8:57am to discuss something about the actual team.

I see no purpose to flood this blog with management isssues. Perfect example why the blog should be shut down; an article is posted about Troy Marks named Pitcher of the Week. 3/4ths of the comments following are rehashed complaints with the front office. If the comments were moderated correctly, maybe an intellectual conversation could take place.

I been on this blog for 3 years, reading comments of "fans" and Chris himself clammoring for a competitve team. Now you got what you ask for and you switch attention back to the management.

I really don't care what issues you have with the staff. To completely ignore the success of these young men is asinine and pretty narrow minded.

"a·pol·o·gist
noun: apologist; plural noun: apologists
a person who offers an argument in defense of something controversial."
Seems to me almost all the posts recently would fit into category.
While you mention trying to keep the posts in line with the blog topic, you immediately take off on a different subject matter all together. Stay on the topic for a change. In this case it sure had nothing to do with snow as you immediately pointed out, but now we can all read your rant here which has nothing to do with Troy Marks pat on the back.

Going to be great the next few days. Should be good for the next several days. No rain problems with high pressure building in. From what I can see from the charts and the dropsounde reports this high pressure with start to weaken by about the middle of next week with more humid conditions following by the next weekend.
Now, for the traffic report......

Since the definition is somewhat vague, at least in your mind, why don't we refer to you folks as Kool-Aide drinkers that will be satisfied with being treated like crap and keeps smiling every time they see Stu, Steve, or Kevin Gryboski. After all, we would not want you to fall into disfavor with these outstanding citizens with no moral compass.

I'm not sure about this. I know I get an email sent to me every time a post or comment is posted. I'm guessing that's because I'm the blog admin. Maybe if you use a Google account and then follow/subscribe to the blog. Just a guess.

Chris said ""Chris, is there a way to notify readers that a new comment has been added to a previous subject?"

The way is seems to be now is that every time the thread is changed nobody really cares.
Changing the subject does not change what posters want to comment on. It is however, IMHO, an attempt to divert attention away from the management attitude issues. My feeling is that everything is fair game because management is inherently a part of the Wild Things. If it were not for the Gryboski fiasco and the outrageous decision to retain his services I'd like to see the subject of management dropped altogether. Not because it isn't a valid issue but because NOTHING will ever change the mindset of the ownership no matter how bad it makes them look to the public at large. There is no such thing as corporate pride with this organization. I repeat what others have said; Just Win, Baby.
Ethics be damned.

OK, so now I have to wait and get the signal/approval from Ima Fraid or some anonymous person before I can proceed and write another blog post? Maybe that's not a good idea. That means I'll have to put a helluva lot less work into something very few people still read.

Chris, please don't put words in my mouth. I NEVER said that! If I did please show me, and everybody else that read my post, just where it was I said that. What I said was, "My feeling is that everything is fair game because management is inherently a part of the Wild Things". That's the way it seems to me. NEVER said a word about what you should, or should not put on your blog.
It's your blog, always has been. I would not even suggest you change it in any way. I think your picking on me because I let you know who I am. Perhaps I should use "Anonymous" as just about everybody else does.
I was only saying how things seemed to me.

To Ima Farid:

I just went back and re-read your comment from 1:02 p.m. Maybe I misunderstood or jumped the gun when I read it originally. I thought you meant changing the subject, as in writing a new blog post was "an attempt to divert attention away from the management attitude issues." If that was indeed the case, then I stick by what I wrote.

However, if you were simply referring to the comments instead of blog posts, then I stand corrected and should add under my comment of 1:22 p.m. the famous line from Gilda Radner's Saturday Night Live character Emily Litella ... "Oh, never mind!"

Chris,
The point that I was trying to make was that, in MY opinion only, that ANYTHING, including management issues, should not be off limits because they are inherently a part of the team as are the players. It is sometimes difficult to find the specific thread to post something under when any significant time has past since that thread was posted. Also, when one does find the correct thread, if one finds it at all, often too much time has elapsed and it becomes either irrelevant, or moot!
That is all I was trying to point out, nothing else! I was not criticizing your administration of YOUR blog. It's yours so please just do with it want you wish. (I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that anyway).
I'll close with this. Posters, be smart, don't post anything here using anything but "anonymous". It took me years to learn this simple fact. (Never said I was a rocket scientist). If you use either a moniker or, actually be man enough to take responsibility for what you say, you will only be subjecting yourself to be singled out for somebody's wrath, be it justified, or not.
For the final time,
Ima Fraid.

Judging by the responses on this board .... if there aren't wholesale changes to the front office staff next year I can't see this team ever being able to regain its lost fanbase and will likely have to fold after 2015. Fans by the hundreds if not thousands are being turned off by prices that are too high for WashPa, baseball that sucks coaches who get into fist fights. We need friendly people who have good ideas in the front office, free parking, lower ticket prices, much lower concession prices, ushers who do their job, coaches who don't quit after one month on the job, food that doesn't double as shoe leather and a championship team. We want it all or get this team out of town.
