Kaminsky traded

The Wild Things made a flurry of transactions Friday prior to the series finale against Rockford.

* Washington traded pitcher Alex Kaminsky (2-5, 4.96 ERA in 10 starts) to the Joliet Slammers for a 2nd-round draft choice.

* Second baseman Sam Montgomery (.211, 7 RBI in 30 games) has been released. A somewhat surprising move.

* Scott Dunn was activated from the 7-day disabled list and will pitch tonight's game against the Aviators.

* Dan Johnston (6-4, 200), a first baseman from Portola Valley, Calif., was signed. Johnston played college ball at Pacific with his senior year being 2012. He was drafted by the Marlins in the 46th round in 2010 but has not played professional baseball.

The releasing of Sam Montgomery came as a surprise to me also. I told his host family I wouldn't be surprised that he wasn't picked up by an affiliated ball club. Someone will pick up this player sooner that later. Best of luck to him. Although I don't know the reason for this release, I am not sure I agree with it, then again I am not the Manager or Coach.

Batting .211 in the Frontier League and that's a surprising move? How so? Batting .211 in any league would barely be enough to keep on your team, especially if the team is in a pennant race. Players as Montgomery are usually just called utility men and vulnerable to be released anytime. Am I wrong in that assessment?
Old, dumb, stupid, cheap, ugly, not good for anything but buying season tickets year after year (ooops, that alone DOES makes me all of the above) disrespected, business unappreciated, referred to as Geezer by some employees, and frowned upon for not being a lemming, and wise enough to know that 40 y/o juveniles should not physically fight with an elderly person, AND what to do about it if it does happen. Long signature I know but; AKA, Ima Fraid
BTW: NEVER brought a single thing into CEP that wasn't pre-approved by a front office person. Not one single time including the infamous Wendy's soda crackers that one employee made a big issue of years ago.
Thankfully, most of the employees now are really nice people that are above that sort of thing.

I was surprised from the standpoint that Montgomery gave Washington an option as a DH, at least against left-handed pitching. Also, now the only option as a backup infielder is moving Beatty to second base.

I don't know if I'd say Montgomery is ready for affiliated ball. His defense is shaky, but I've seen lesser players get signed, especially in the offseason.

I have done my analysis and have determined that this team will not win anything. There simply won't be enough completed passes.

Anybody have some food recomendations at the park? What's the best bet?

Best recommendation? Don't eat anything at the park. Unless you want to stress your gastric system to it's upmost. Stuff yourself before you go to the park. You'll be doing yourself a favor and saving a ton of money.

Yeah, Wendy's across the street! Don't spend a dime in that place.
