Up in smoke, 2011 version

The championship series is set for the Frontier League. It will be the Joliet Slammers, champions of the East Division, against the West Division champion River Ciy Rascals.

River City will be trying to become the third franchise to win back-to-back Frontier League championships. The others were Richmond (2001-02) and Windy City (2007-08). River City is in the finals for the third year in a row, having lost to Lake Erie in 2009.

Joliet swept Lake Erie in the East Division finals, and River City would have swept Southern Illinois had it not been for a ninth-inning meltdown by its bullpen in Game 1. The Rascals squandered a four-run lead in the top of the ninth, giving up six runs and losing 9-7.

Which begs the question, how good is River City's bullpen? The Rascals certainly have some impressive arms at the back of the pen, with three relievers having ERAs under 2.22. The Rascals tied with Joliet for most saves in the league with 34. However, River City had several more blown saves, and many of those came in the second half of the season.

Is that simply a byproduct of River City playing more games with late leads than Joliet, or do the Slammers have a more reliable bullpen? It's probably a little of both.

Here's a look at the blown saves for each team (note that Washington's blown saves totals were 14 in 2010, 15 in 2009, 15 in 2008 and 5 in 2007):

2011 Blown Saves
15 - Florence
12 - River City
12 - Rockford
12 - Southern Illinois
11 - Gateway
11 - Washington
11 - Windy City
9 - Joliet
9 - Lake Erie
9 - Normal
9 - Traverse City
8 - Evansville

In case you didn't read this blog during the season this is what you missed. The cranky old guys who read this blog think the Wild Things should hire a hitting coach, the players suck, one of the radio broadcasters is the grim reaper, the coaches suck, watching the Wild Things play is boring, the parking prices suck, the fans might be racists, the food prices suck, nobody with the Wild Things has the guts to fire the manager, the concession stand workers suck, season ticket holders should get free parking, the turf sucks, season ticket holders should always get the free giveaways, the people who aren't season ticket holders suck, season ticket holders should get to run the team plus their own servant, politicians suck, the manager and players weren't enthusiastic about attending the season ticket holders picnic, the PA guy sucks, people here hamper the minority players with their racist comments, the umpires suck, the catcher's skills are substandard, the mascot sucks, the guy who drops numbers into the strikeout sign is to slow, the city sucks, the scoreboard operator isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, the attendance sucks, Ron Wilson is always right and don't question him about it, anyone who comments on this blog sucks, the second baseman can't run the bases, the owners suck, the little guy with the clipboard is a weasel, the uniform sucks, the lefthanded relief pitcher can't pitch, mohawks suck, the black kid employee has hair that looks like it should be used to clean a BBQ rack and the season sucked.

There you have it the complete rundown of everything posted on this blog. And you wonder why the rest of the league thinks Washington sucks?

would love to hear directly from the sth's that attended the advisory committee meeting the other night.

changes are coming, folks. changes are coming. mr. smily's contract runs out at the end of september and the team will not extend/renew. there are several potential candidates to replace, most with some connection to affiliated ball, a must-have to succeed in this league.

big changes are coming, big changes. don't think you're going to buy a "cheap seat" and get one of the ushers to let you sit in the premium boxes. not going to happen. we'll see now if the posters here complain about "usher nazi" and the like. the sth won't complain about them if they keep the cheapskates in the cheap seats that they bought.

winning, winning now is going to be a priority. the ownership, the management can not afford to start slowly, can not afford to not compete for division title, can not afford to miss the playhoffs again.

yes, indeed, big changes are a coming. get ready.

...the guy who drops numbers into the strikeout sign is to slow...

Haha look what I started. The best part is that enough people on here complain about nothing to the point that someone actually thought this was a legit complaint. By the way, here's the O you forgot to type, sir.

"Ron Wilson is always right"

At least you got that part of your post correct.
All the rest of your remarks are just plain garbage.
