More on Schaumburg

According to reports out of Chicago, Joliet Slammers owner Alan Oremus has sold the lease for Alexian Field in Schaumburg, Ill., to Patrick Salvi, who owns the Gary Southshore Railcats of the American Association.

So what does this mean for the Frontier League? Oremus had originally planned to put a Schaumburg team in the American Assocation in 2012, then changed course and had the franchise ticketed for the Frontier League.

With Salvi, a Chicago attorney, already owning a team in the AA, my first thought was the Schaumburg franchise would join that league. However, several stories on the Oremus-Salvi transaction have mentioned that Schaumburg is still headed for the Frontier League. In the final paragraph of the story linked below, it's mentioned that a Schaumburg franchise was approved Tuesday by the Frontier League.

Read the story here.

It looks like the 10th year will be the worst.
They started out the first year very good and have continued to decline the second half of the 10 year spand.
At this rate, they won't make another year or two, let along 10.
I think the artifical turf (TPT) didn't help.

tpt didn't hurt, except in the minds of a very limited few people. you are entitled to your opinion about it. however, tpt let some games be played that wouldn't have been.

baseball operations is the number one problem with the franchise--acquisition and selection of players, preparation and use of their skills in game--all of the issues with the franchise are rooted in what happens on the field. when the team plays well for more than a day or two, people will have more fun, it will be more exciting to go, and more people will attend, multiplying those earlier positives.

have no fear, NG, the team will be here next year, and for a long time down the road. there will be significant changes in the very near future--maybe week, a month at the most--on the field and off.

Actually, the 2010 season was the Wild Things' worst. With 39 wins already, they have surpassed last year's total (38-57).

The new turf didn't have an impact on the outcome of any game that I saw.

We better keep Mr. Smiley.
His record is improving.
In about 18 years, he will have a 500 team.

I know who wrote that! Don't make it so obvious next time. I always thought that anybody could play on a surface that is close to being a pool table. The 2011 Wild Things have shown me to be wrong on that.
I won't re-open the debate on the TPT - at least for now! TURF SUCKS..period!

I think we've had enough comments about turf to last a lifetime. Not sure how that relates to Schaumburg joining the league.

“I think we've had enough comments about turf to last a lifetime. “

Probably so. However, has anybody noticed how any ball with even a tiny bit of reverse spin
kicks off to the left upon contact with that black crap (tiny rubber marbles). Not unlike what you see
on grass but greatly exaggerated. Playing on turf also allows Mickey Mouse stuff like Lawson and Ontiveros pulled last week. I don’t fault Joliet at all for taking exception to that sort of stuff. I don’t buy their excuse for doing that at all.
That aside, I think the real issue with turf was the way it was funded NOT the turf itself. I never thought
I’d say this but, I really don’t mind the turf. It has become a non-issue with me.

had chat after game with a guy about some stuff happening/likely to happen:

1) not only schaumburg, but likely another team coming into league next year. look for two 7-team divisions, each team to play in-division opponents 9 times, other division opponents 6 times.

2) mr. smily (my name for him, not his) will not be back.

3) dewey will be asked back, but as pitching coach, not manager.

4) bozzuto will be back, not as manager.

5) sidick will be back. two, maybe three other current players will be back. that's it. too many got to stick around and continue what didn't work all year.

6) more office changes are coming.

7) wild things will be better next year. of course, 11 games under right now, it has to get better, doesn't it?

seen all of 2011 wild things that is wanted...

One can find lot of such funny sports moments very easily.
I can also would suggest taking a few minutes to successfully snicker
not to mention grin available at funny pictures ( imagenes de humor ) and then funny videos ( videos divertidos
) to assist you in the quest with cheer in addition to stress reliever.

Music: My - Space is indeed the friend of music, but it
has close ties with the independent artists, who make up for what they
lack in record contracts and money by being My
- Space-strong, building a strong fan base and creating loyal
street teams, which then take on a lot of the advertising
on the band's behalf.

Feel free to surf to my website ... funny pictures and quotes for facebook
