The Fighting ThunderBolts

You can tell the playoffs are on the horizon for the Frontier League because tempers are starting to flare when contenders meet. There was an incident in Windy City's game Thursday night against Oakland County in which, according to the Daily Southtown, punches were thrown. Oakland County won the game in extra innings to pull to within two games of first-place Windy City in the East Division.

If punches were indeed thrown, it will be interesting to see if any suspensions will be enforced. The Wild Things begin a three-game series tonight at Windy City.

Read the story here.

OT: Turf
Out-gunned, out-smarted, out-maneuvered and generally beat up and bloodied, I am now coming out of my foxhole with a “white flag’ firmly gripped in each hand. I fought it to the very end and offer NO apology for that. If you believe in something strongly enough you don’t mind taking the flack! I sure took plenty over the last few seasons. I really did believe in what I was fighting for. However, it’s time for this old man
to give up the good fight and let the issue just die.
Stu Williams – you beat me fair and square. I’m looking forward to the new CEP next year. I offer my sincere congratulations for giving me a good butt kicking! I took advantage of the opportunity to hammer away at attorneys so I guess you took your share of bumps, too! No hard feelings, I hope not. Absolutely none on my part. I was really surprised to find a sample of the new artificial surface material under my seat when I arrived at the ballpark Thursday. That was the best laugh I’ve had in a very long time. I want to thank Todd for that, also.
So, where the hell do I go to sign the “Surrender Papers”? How about CEP September 9th at about 5PM?
Ron Wilson - Back into semi-retirment now.

BTW: If you ever let Christine, Todd, or my other friends in the front office get away, it will be WAR ALL OVER AGAIN!! These folks are a really great bunch, and I love them all.

Chris, are you going to do an end of season wrap-up and a list of 'what went wrong' once the season ends?
