The Corn Crib
WJPA Radio's Randy Gore was kind enough to pass along these photos of the Frontier League's newest ballpark, The Corn Crib, in Normal, Ill. It's the home of the Normal CornBelters.
The unique parts of this ballpark are the corn stalks in right field, a throwback to "Field of Dreams." I believe the clubhouses are located in the building behind the scoreboard. Players walk through the cornstalk area and enter the field in right centerfield.

Randy,
Thanks for the photos of "The Corn Crib". As much as I hate "turf" I must admit that theirs looks very nice.
I hope the the Wild Things will buy a nice looking turf with the money we are giving them.
The biggest problems with spending others peoples money is that no matter what you do, you are going to tick somebody off. The second biggest problem is that it becomes addictive.

I was willing to accept the fact that turf is on the way to CEP until I listened to Saturday’s games vs. the Normal.
Hearing how turf was soooo wonderful, I was beginning to think that mankind had actually made something better than God himself was able to do. Nope - still hasn’t happened! Runners sliding past bases because the fabulous ‘turf’ was wet. WOW! To add to that the turf manufactors actually have added a sort of granulated rubber to help players to slide even farther. I’ll bet God never even thought of that! Sure he did, that’s why natural grass does NOT have granulated rubber in it – it’s not needed.
God does not make mistakes.
Fighting the turf issue with all the energy I can muster until I actually see it put in place. It matters not to me who I piss-off because I just hate to see baseball further bastardized, especially when I’m being forced to help pay for it.

For pete's sakes, would somebody put a strip of turf over Ron Wilson's mouth and his typing fingers. It's no wonder there are no comments on this board anymore. Nobody wants to read your drivel every time they load a page. Like nobody has ever overslid a base before.
Turf is coming soon.
Then the players will learn how to slide on it.

I think YOU should be the one to do it Anonymous. Just show up up @ CEP Sec 104 Row G Seat 1. Bring your turf and glue, scotch tape, or anything else you may need including your own ambulance!

Ron, go to blogger.com and start your own blog called, 'Wild About Grass.' Post your rants there instead of wasting other peoples' time here.
Mr. Wilson keep posting on this blogg.I for one enjoy your comments.Thanks.
Keep posting, Ron. We've disagreed on some topics, agreed on others. But always appreciate your thought-out, reasonable posts here on the Wild About Things blog.

I'm not wasting other peoples time my friend. If you don't like, don't read it! That's not too difficult to figure out is it?
It seems if I don,t post something then nobody else will. Most of you sit at CEP and whine about how bad the team is but are scared crapless to put your feelings on the blog.
If you do post something, you are ashamed to use your real name. Probably afraid to ruffle any feathers.
The USA was founded by those bold enough to say what they thought, put it on paper, and actually sign it. If everyone then were as afraid as folks as you, then we would not be able to speak freely as we are now.
Why don't you go to the local Marine recruter, let them instill in you a little manhood and, at the same time respect the right of free speech that we enjoy today. If everyone was as you, we would be enslaved.
I happen to have the courage of my convictions when it comes to the turf issue and I will continue to speak out about it no matter who does, or does not, like it. It's my right passed on to me by millions of men and women of like mind. YOU WILL NOT, WITH WORDS, SWORDS, OR GUNS, EVER DENY ME THAT RIGHT!
