No. 1,000

The post below this one was No. 1,000 for this blog. Back in May of 2007, somebody at the O-R basically created this blog for me and said "Here you go. You have a blog. Now start posting." I thought I would have stopped long before 2014 and 1,000 posts.

No one collapses at the end of the season like the Wild Things. This team will never win anything as long as the bozo ownership, front office, and coaching staff remains the same.

Freakin' snuff rubbin', old man beater, foul mouthed Gryboski better be the first to go.
The players all like to "high-five" an laugh it up with the guy so I gather they accept this unprincipled jerk. If the players don't mind this Adam Henry being their coach, then they are as unprincipled as he. I know they don't have any choice about who Williams hires BUT, to accept him the way they do is unconscionable. Shows they have no respect for their former manager, (in most cases he is the man that brought them here to begin with), very little self-respect and, that they have bought into Mr. Williams theory of "just win, baby" no matter who you have to screw over in the process! It's the main reason I hope the Wild Things are eliminated ASAP.
Bart Who? Gryboski should have been the one thrown under the bus not Zeller, and later, Bob Didier. Take note that Williams would not allow Didier to speak with the players before he left the team. The reason was that he was going to tell them about the pitching coach. and the way Williams mishandled the fact that Gryboski used a 77 year old man as a punching bag. Of course Bob Ditier, being a man that has respect and values loyality, was a misfit from the beginning with Williams. Prove to me that Williams has the same values as Bob Ditier, I know you can't do it. Im proud of Bob him for standing up for Bart. One thing for sure, the players would not do it!
BTW: Bozo doesn't like anybody comparing him to any member of the Wild Things.

If you only knew what you don't know about the former manager then you would know why the players didn't come to his defense if you know what I mean but you just don't know.

Jeff,
If you know the truth why don't you tells us what it is? You should have quit being such a WT suck up ages ago. You make it sound as if you know the truth so why don't you enlighten us? The truth is I told the truth and you don't know nothing from nothing.

You don't know the truth and you never will know the truth because you can't handle the truth.

The truth is I know BS when I read it. Why not take your bitterness and target more important issues. What to tackle homeless issues in Washington Co? Care to address the problem of young kids who go to school hungry? And yes, neither of these topics have anything to do with the subject matter of this blog post. Thanks Chris for all your time and effort that has been put into this and the previous 999.

Right, when you run out of a good arguement just change the subject.
Is it BS that Gryboski punched Zeller, or not? We all know that happened and that's all just fine with you I suppose. Some fine moralist you are.
How much have you given to the poor starving children today?

Sir, it is pretty obvious you guys only believe what you want to believe, so me being a player would not change your guys minds.
But I will say a few of us keep up with the blog and it is sad to see some of the stuff you guys write.
It's funny cause we were told that a lot of people are proud of us and it would mean a lot to them if we won it all. We were also told a lot of ppl want to see us fail.
That's pathetic to want to see us fail. It really is.

Please "don't pack the park" I only want to play in front of the ppl in this town who want to see us succeed and if that's just the coaches and other players then that's fine by me.

We don't want to see you fail.

We want to see Steve and Stu receive zero credit if you win.

That's the truth, because they are clowns.

Went to get my tickets for tonights game. Dollar tickets-they asked me where I want to sit. I said in the Twelve $ seats and I got two of them for a buck each. I bet the people that got playoff tickets early didn't get a bargain like I did.

Also 943 wasn't bad, when you consider the circumstances. Schaumburg -- the team that led the league in attendance during the regular season and a city more than five times the size of Washington -- drew only 1,022 last night. Both the Wild Things and Boomers had only one day to sell playoff tickets after winning Saturday night.

I've written about this many times before. Playoff games do not attract crowds in minor league baseball, especially games played midweek. There have been many playoff games in Washington played before almost-empty stands and even some of them were on the weekend. Remember the blowout loss to Chillicothe that ended the 2005 season? The game had fewer butts in the seats than last night and it was played on a Sunday evening. Why was attendance so poor for Game 5 of that playoff series? Nobody knew the game was going to be played until the Wild Things lost the previous day.

That's why many minor leagues use a split-season format. If you play a split-season (which I don't prefer) then the two first-half champions have half a season to sell playoff tickets, not one day.

You can see what I mean about playoff attendance by looking at the numbers from some affiliated minor-league playoff games played Monday night:

Chattanooga, Tenn. - 850
Daytona, Fla. - 1.063
San Bernardino, Calif. - 1,102
Visalia, Calif. - 1,177
Jacksonville, Fla. - 1,487
