Zero tolerance

By signing Vinnie Fayard -- to replace suspended Robbie Garvey -- prior to their game Sunday against the Road Warriors, the Wild Things have reached the Frontier League's transactions limit. By my count, Washington has no transactions left. Zero. To add a player, Washington would have to make a trade within the league for an equal number of players or put a player on the DL.

Fayard fits the mold of the players Washington signed during the last offseason. He has no professional experience and played this spring at an NAIA school, Biola (Calif.). He batted a team-high .372 with four home runs and 13 stolen bases this year. As a sophomore, he hit 14 home runs, but his power number dropped significantly. Perhaps that was caused by the new aluminum bats used in the college game.

The Frontier League transactions page listed Fayard as an outfielder, though he played a lot of infield as a senior.

Good Lord. Don't these people ever learn anything?
The Wild Cubs are absolutely hopeless.
I guess this is an early view of what we can expect next season. I give up on this bunch. There aer no words to express how I feel.

Ban the Bandos AND dump Steve Z. He doesn't realize how much better off he would be without having to be a permanent yes man. All he is now is a scapegoat for Williams BS.

Wild Cubs lose again. Shutout again!Fayard 0 for 3 with 2 K's. Michael Bando 0 for 3 BA .187
Just plain disgusting.
Since Chris Dugan seems to think Manager Bando and staff makes all these moves this is even more reason to say - BAN THE BANDOS

Bando scores an absolute zero on evaluation of talent for this season. Heck, I'd even say it's on par with the horrendous job Harding "Bozo" Peterson did with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the mid '80's. (Anybody remember when he was going to unleash the "New Lumber Company" with washed up players who were 5 years beyond their prime, like Steve Kemp, Sixto Lezcano, Amos Otis and "Jogging George" Hendrick?)
Just because a player hit for a decent average in college doesn't mean they can make the next step to professional baseball, no matter how low the level is. And the most glaring example is HIS OWN KID. You mean to tell me there wasn't one first baseman out there all summer long who was released in affiliated ball who couldn't have done better? Holy crap, bring back the second version of Ernie Banks, all is forgiven! It was amazing how so many players from this season came from California, including at least 1 from Bando's town. What did he do, deliver your newspaper years ago and you owe him a favor?

The Wild Things should have made one more trade the night the Rippers folded. Chris Bando should have been traded for their bus driver. Even if he knew zero about the league, the driver couldn't have gotten worse results.

If Bando returns next season, this team is done. You don't have to be Nostradamus to see that. And if he does, I just may have to write a parody of "Casey At The Bat".

I guess with no moves left, fans attending the remaining games just may be able to identify 1 or 2 position players now. Well, that's if anybody actually bothers to attend the games, that is.

I suggest that Chris Sidick come aboard as the GM, and perhaps Brett Grandstrand take over as manager. I don't think that's crazy. But surely they wouldn't want any part of this mess.

Good idea.
With Sidick as the GM he would not have to make road trips and he could still keep his business and leave Steve Z. in charge of the carpet.
Grandstand, I assume would be willing to ride bus.
I hope Stu reads your post.

What is the Wild Cubs magic number for elimination from the playoffs?
I know it must be getting close if it has not already happened?

I believe that number is 7. By the way, crushing loss by Florence last night. Led 10-2 at Rockford in 6th inning and lost 11-10. Big blow to the Freedom's playoff chances.

I was in the food court are of Washington Crown Center this morning and noticed "table tent" advertisement on the tables for the Pony League World Series.
Too bad they could not arrange the schedule where the Wild Cubs were out of town and play the game at CEP. TP turf and very little chance for rain outs.
However upon closer examination, I noticed the table tents also commented on free parking.
That would eliminate a lot of people from attending what is probably more exciting then what the Wild Cubs have shown us in 2012.

Field dimensions make playing Pony at CEP highly unlikely. Bases are not 90 feet in Pony and you can't move the mound at CEP.

Has every player this year associated previously with an affiliated team been released? If so, why were they released?

No. Casey Barnes, Justin Hall, Shawn Smith, Orlando Santos, Jovan Rosa, Darian Sandford and Gus Benusa each have affiliated experience.

To be completely honest, I can't figure out what the Wild Cubs want to do. Stu says they want to win but nothing I can see really points in that direction. He let the 'suck-up' group convince he was heading on the correct course and that he should "let the pieces of the puzzle fall into place". At that time the Wild Cubs were 12.0 games behind. So, he did stay the course, and now the Wild Cubs are 19 games back!
Those of us that recall last season the same thing happened. The Wild Thing brass just let the season run out with the team floundering and saying, and doing, nothing.
If anybody can figure this organization out I'd love to hear what you think.
I'm beginning to think there is a long range plan and that winning is not part of that plan. How else can can you explain the Bandos being here? Chris Bando has shown nothing in the way of leadership or ability to manage.
Anybody have any guesses about what you think about the direction the Wild Cubs are heading, or trying to do?

I suggest they keep Bandos (both of them) and join the same league the Blue Sock were in.
These are the type of players Mr. Bandos is used to.
They might do good in the tri-state collegiate league.

The plan is probably just to get out of Washington as soon as possible.
I've never seen baseball as boring as that presented by the Wild Things the last three seasons. Is there any good reason to go to a Wild Things game?

Stu Williams is like Rachel Phelps from Major League...he WANTS them to lose so he can move the team/try to get an affiliated team elsewhere.

"Wild Things fans are getting what they deserve"

So, what's that supposed to mean? We asked for Bando ball? Is that what you're saying?
The Wild Things choked in 2007 and acted like it was Chris Dugan's fault.
This franchise has never recovered from the classless way the team reacted.
I guess that is the fault of the fans, right?
