Have some Wine with that?
The Wild Things don't have a manager but they do have their third player signed for 2010. The team announced Monday the signing of first baseman/outfielder Cory Wine.
If pedigree means anything, the Wild Things made a good signing. Wine is a third-generation professional player. He's the son of Robbie Wine, who was an All-American at Oklahoma State, the No. 8 pick in the 1983 Major League draft and is the current head coach at Penn State. He's also the grandson of former major league shortstop Bobby Wine.
“Cory comes from a baseball background and has been around the game his entire life,” said Wild Things general manager Ross Vecchio. “Scouts have raved about his power potential and we feel he’ll be able to realize that potential with the Wild Things.”
As a senior at Penn State in 2009, Wine batted .307 with five home runs and 41 RBI.
The Philadelphia Phillies drafted Wine in the 38th round last June. He appeared in 34 games for the Phillies' affiliate in the rookie-level Gulf Coast League but batted only .189.
Washington made one other move, trading right-handed relief pitcher Aaron Guinn (0-0, 4.91) to the Las Cruces Vaqueros of the Continental League in exchange for future considerations.
By the way, there are only 79 shopping days left before the start of Frontier League spring training. Time to pick a manager, wouldn't you say?

Maybe no one wants to manager the Wild Things.
I told you people on Feb 3rd that it was down to Everson and now he is named the Managr. Good Luck Dave, today is the 1st day of the end of your career.
Thank goodness they changed their mind about Rose. Looks like Wayne is still relaying message board posts to the new boss, and finally the WWT are starting to listen to the people!
Hey ConsolCharlie...it's Darin, you jackass, not Dave.
Thanks Wayne, but then obviously you know nothing of his days with the Marlins, everyone in baseball calls him DAVE, do some homework first!
ConsolCharlie...I'm not Wayne so shut the F@%K up! I don't give a $hit what they called him in the Marlins system...his name is Darin...
I love the Wild Things fans and the people on this blog, Chris Dugan included. Everyone screams, hollers and bitches that the Wild Things don't have a manager and then when they do announce that they've hired one all we get in an argument as to what his FREAKIN" name is.
BTW...I'm not Wayne. I'm Joey T.
ConsolCharlie...it's me again, not Wayne, and I did a little Google search on Darin or Dave or Mr. Everson or what ever you want to call him and the first 7 links on Google make no reference to him being called Dave. I'm not saying that he wasn't called Dave when he was in the Marlins system, but the average Joe can't be expected to know "inside" info if it can't be found on a simple Google search.
Hey Consol Chet: Your buddy Dave Darrin, Dick or Doug or whatever his name is ... if he's the manager of the Wild Things then he should be called Dead Man Walking because his career's over.

I have to disagree with the above post. Washington doesn't have to be the graveyard of careers for it's managers. Isom and Massarelli seem to be doing fine.
I hope Ross gives the new manager some space.
Well it looks like the classy Washington Wild Things Fans/ Ron Wilson's Grumpy Old Man Army, are finally waking up from their winter hibernation.
Everson has had the job for 2 days and there are people already saying his career is over? Ridiculous. It doesn't matter what his name is, or what you google about him ( the person who googled is an idiot, and must not have a clue about the game of baseball). All thats going to matter is if he can bring in quality players and produce a winning team. Atleast give him a few weeks into the season before you throw him under the bus.
Mike
Mike=Jackass!!!
Why in the world is someone an idiot for doing a Google search on the guy??? I never said a negative word about Mr. Everson. The only person that I am saying anything negative about is you, Mike.
BTW...I am not a member of Ron Wilson's Grumpy whatever it is you call it.
I didn't say you mentioned anything negative, all I said is is you were an idiot for doing a google search because someone was claiming he had a different name. There's no need degrade yourself by swearing "Mr Anonymous". I understand you have nothing else to do with your life but sit on the computer all day and argue with the wonderful people of Washington Pa all day, but let's be civil about it, act like a grown up.
Mike
P.S. Even though your not part of the Ron Wilson Grumpy Old Man Army, I think you should send him an email saying you want to join. I assure you that you would be a perfect fit.
Actually, Mike, (is it ok if I call you Mike, or is there a nickname you'd rather go by?) in order to join Ron Wilson's Old Man Army, you must submit a stone slab chiseled with your request, along with a self-addressed stamped set of dentures. I'm pretty sure that's how it goes down.
As for the manager, hopefully he can do some actual managing this year, instead of waiting until a pitcher gives up 5 runs to start warming up the pen. I'm sure he'll get this team back on track.

From the Frontier League site:
WASHINGTON WILD THINGS: Released RHP Brian McCullough.
How come with each player signed (although not many), Ross and not the new manager or new big cheese have any comments about the player.
It looks like these two guys are figure heads and we will be in trouble once again. Three years in a row with out a winning season.
Wonderful for ticket sales. Also wonderful to spring taxpayer turf on us.
^
Didnt they say in some article that the new guy was more focused on business related issues and overall picture and ross was going to be the one dealing with the talent with the coach and getting players, not really the new guy?...could explain why ross is the only one making comments..
^
On point, the new guy isn't dealing with player operations, that job is strictly Ross and Everson's responsibility.
WASHINGTON WILD THINGS: Signed OF Mark McGonigle
Just think in about 6 weeks we will be cutting grass.
It will be good to smell and look at the natural grass at the stadium for the final year.
I hake taxpayer turf.
THIS BLOG IS DEAD, Shows the lack of interest in Dave and the Mild Things.
Hey anonymous, why don't you google that!!!
The lack of activity on this message board clearly means one of two things...
1. Either the shelf life of the WWT have expired and no one cares anymore
or
2. Wayne is on vacation
Or 3... its March and the team doesn't start until May numbnuts. Try getting excited about baseball with two feet of snow on the ground.
Your village is missing its idiot.
I'm voting for #1, no one cares. This blog wasn't this dead this time last year, before the tailspin and collapse of 2009
