It's a record … sort of

Quiz time: When is a record not a record? Answer: When it's set in a suspended game.

The Wild Things' Chris Sidick set a record Sunday by playing in his 412th Frontier League game, the most by any player in league history.

Of course, Sidick's career statistics will show he won't set the league record, previously held by current Kalamazoo manager Fran Riordan, until Tuesday (weather permitting) because the Wild Things' game Sunday against Windy City was suspended in the third inning. The game will be resumed Friday when Windy City begins a three-game series in Washington.

Sidick, who already holds the Frontier League record for triples (42) and at-bats (1,560), is rapidly approaching several other career records. They are (league mark in parenthesis):

Runs: 303 (315)
Hits: 444 (458)
Walks: 243 (248)

Chris Sidick: Best Player in the Worst League in Baseball.

Congrats. He's like the smartest person with Down's Syndrome or the Sexiest Girl at Fat Camp.

Also, what is the "job" at Cal U Ross is rumored to have taken or be taking? Janitor?

Age wise, can Chris Sidick play next year?
Also, as a vet and his batting average this year, he may not be picked up by any frontier league team even if he is eligible to play.

I see it didn't take long for the trailer trash in Washington to comment about this. The person who wrote that probably is some jealous guy who was so bad he didn't make his local little league team because the blind girl was the last player chosen.

But keep it up Washington. The rest of the Frontier League gets a good laugh from the zero-IQ idiots who regularly comment here. We can count on Wild Things fans to continue being the ugly redheaded stepchildren of the league.

Until next time, you stay classy Washington.

Ross can't handle the janitor job, way too technical for him.
Don't worry, he will be back with the WTs again next year.
There is more bad information on this blog than you can shake a stick at!

Means a lot coming from a person that probably hasn't been able to hold a consistent job and is probably unemployed at the momment.

Ross will be joing the athletic department at conclusion of season. Probably some development job since he's so good at selling sponsorships for WWT. Talk to Cal U, its already a done deal

The Good Ship Wild Things is sinking like a rock. By season's end, the entire staff will be jumping overboard and swimming for land (new jobs) as quickly as possible.

ok Mr. "I'm all high and mighty and come to thing blog all the time though I claim to not be from Washington," where are you from? Why do you continue to read the blog? What gives you the right to speak for "the rest of the Frontier League?"

The person who left the first comment was probably the best player cut from his high school's JV baseball team.

why would the rest of the league NOT laugh at the collected idiots on this blog...it's hysterical. you can't make this stuff up. the collection of misfits that post on here, from the dude that used to be some editor to the old man that used to be something to the field dudes to the other malcontents to the insiders and the outsiders to the racists and the bigots and the juvenile humorists. this is quite a collection of misfits--tractors with square tires, charlies in the box, jelly squirt guns, ostrich-riding cowboys, airplanes that can't fly and fish that can.

And, starting tonight, the wild things win 15 of the last 19 games!

take that, rest of the frontier league...

Buddy, I agree with you on many points. But you don't add anything to the blog except ridicule, which makes you just as guilty as the people you rip on. Any thoughts on Chris Sidick's career?

By the way, Sidick is indeed able to play one more season in the Frontier League, if he so chooses. Congrats to him on his record, and the ones he is about to break soon.

sidick has raised his average close to 50 points in the last 4 weeks from .189 to .239. while the total body of work isn't great, he has shown he still has something to offer.

When he gets on, he is always a threat to steal and even though he slumped for the first half of the season, he never took it in the field with him. He has had a good year as a defensive center fielder.

While he hasn't had a great season, you could do a lot worse than Chris Sidick as your center fielder. He will be back for another season.

Chris Sidick is just another dumb ass baseball player in the Flubtier League. Would not make a pimple on a REAL ball players butt.
I'll say one thing for him - EGO is his middle name.
Chris, stay home next year and spare us all this hero local crap!

Hahaha Joe D.

Unbelievable. I love it. Good Call.

It will be interesting to see what changes happen next year. Clearly this will be a new organization in one way or another. I don't see Ross coming back which will be his decision. Mason cant be brought back, who cares who makes that decision. And the rest of the office, who knows?

listened to game last night (rained hard at my house)...

good to hear great game. groh pitched very well it sounded like. good tempo, good selection, good location. nice first inning for the offense, too.

speaking of location, how about when radio randy and baseball bob were doing the geography thing...that was fun. still not sure why they don't have two guys on all the time. seems tough on randy on the road...

think i'll just listen again tonight...beats trying to get past the fair traffic and then back through it after the game...
