One manager gone

At least one team in the Frontier League will have a new manager next season. The River City Rascals are not bringing back Toby Rumfield, pictured, who guided the Rascals to an 83-109 record in two seasons. The Rascals were 47-49 this year and finished fifth in the West Division. River City has not made the playoffs since 2000.

Here is a season wrapup story from the St. Charles Journal that mentions Rumfield will not be returning. By the way, Rumfield's wife, Kari, is the general manager of the Florence Freedom.

River City story.

A manager on one team and a general manager on another team as husband and wife. That is worse than putting lipstick on a pig.

When I saw this headline my heart skipped a beat thinking Jelks would be gone. But alas, WT front office hasn't wised up yet. It's going to be a long winter.

Wish in one hand and poop in the other, then see which one fills up first.
The WT haven't got the guts to do the correct thing. Next season will be as long as this season. The BIG difference for me is... I won't be there if Jelks is!

See ya...You don't really think the WT will change their minds because YOU aren't coming now, do you?

Yeah, that Jelks has to go. He's had one whole year to prove himself, and all he could do was keep an injury-plagued team in the playoff race until nearly the end of the season. He didn't live up to the high standards of the previous managers in getting their teams into the playoffs and then, um, losing. For anyone who isn't getting it, I'm being sarcastic. You know, the more I read the comments on this blog - not just this particular posting, but throughout the season - the more I detect an undercurrent that suggests the reason some people around here don't like Jelks is that he's the "wrong color."

I'm guessing you disagree with what I said. Would you like to expound on that, or are you just being an a$$hole?
