Fallout from forfeits

The Frontier League playoffs begin tonight with two wild-card games: Florence at River City and Rockford at Traverse City.

Had Evansville not been stripped of 10 wins, and eight teams given wins via forfeit, the playoff picture would be much different. Here is what changed because of the Evansville forfeits:

* Evansville went from 58-38 and the No. 3 seed in the playoffs to missing the postseason.

* Florence went from missing the playoffs and finishing with a 48-48 record to having a winning season and being the No. 5 seed in the playoffs.

* Traverse City went from having to play a wild-card game on the road to hosting.

* Evansville celebrated what it thought was a clinched playoff berth following a win at River City. One day later, it was ruled that the Otters had to forfeit 10 wins and Evansville didn't have a playoff berth secured. In an interesting twist, River City swept Evansville at Bosse Field in the final series of the year to prevent Evansville from making the playoffs.

* Washington went from finishing 40-56 to 42-54. A 40-56 record would have been the worst in Wild Things history.

* Washington went from finishing in a four-way tie for next-to-last place in the league to fifth place in the East Division.

Chris:
Let us know who ends up being the Frontier League champion.
I will be watching the Pirates.
Who has a better chance of returning in 2016?
1 The Rebellion?
2 Wild Things manager?
3 Wild Things General Manager?
4 Rebellion and Wild Things owner?

Unfortunately, Chris is probably right. The good news is that they
will all be going to Parkersburg in 2017. CEP will become an industrial
park providing much needed real jobs for honest people, not the gang that run the
WT's now. The job the WT's ownership is doing is totally UNREAL!

From what I have read on this site and hear from people who have insight to the WildThings it seems that Mr. Williams is having financial problems. That's the conclusion I get when I connect the dots from the poor attendance for 2 teams, Wild Things leaving for games in the middle of the night to save a few dollars, rumors of a move to West Virginia. I even heard about the plans for an industrial park before reading about it here. Where there is smoke there is fire and it is bellowing out of CEP. We should have known that when Mr. Williams bought CEP that he was playing all of us for fools and was planning to bring in the wreckin ball so he could build something else on the land. It's all getting clearer. I guess we should enjoy the WildThings while they're still here. Washington is headed to being another former Frontier League city.

Stu Williams not only could screw up an iron ball he has also screwed over the
fans of the Washington Wild Things. All you mutton heads that believed all the crap he was dishing out in those season ticket holder meetings are now learning just how correct I was in my assessment of him. As far as I'm concerned all of you 'go along to get along' types that were kissing his backside are as much to blame as he.
NEVER, EVER, trust an attorney. I hope you all learned a lesson from this. As the above poster said, "Where there is smoke there is fire". No fire department could ever cope with the 'arson' job that has been perpetrated of we fans. You will take note that there has been attempt to deny ANY of the rumors. So, we will indeed lose the Wild Things to Parkersburg.
Let's face it; we've been screwed, blued, and tattooed! Hope you all enjoyed the end of season picnic! Oh, yea, that was cancelled, too without notice. Instead we get to go to a hockey game. Forget about the rumor that Williams bought a piece of that action, too! Anybody care to by a season ticket to the Wheeling Nailers?
If I'm wrong, and I hope I am, why doesn't Stu come out and say something? I'll give everybody three guesses why, and the first two guesses won't count.

Yes, the 10 forfeits affected the playoff race. However, at the time the 10 games were taken, Evansville was still in the playoffs. As they went into the final week of the season all they needed was one victory, instead they lost six straight. I believe in sports terms that is called a choke job. THAT is why they didn't make the playoffs. Others would call it karma for knowingly playing a player who was ineligible. They are frankly lucky that was ALL that was determined to be the penalty. It could have been worse.

To be fair, just about everybody leaves for road trips in the middle of the night. Rooms are generally not ready until noon or later.
