Streaking

Let's talk streaking.

No, not the act of running through a public place naked, which became a popular thing to do at sporting events about four decades ago. Instead, let's discuss the Wild Things' winning streaks.

Washington will take a five-game winning streak and some momentum into a doubleheader Wednesday (6:05 p.m.) against Rockford.

The Wild Things are coming off a three-game series sweep against the Gateway Grizzlies at GCS Ballpark. The sweep extended Washington's winning streak over Gateway to 12 games, which is really hard to believe when you consider the quality teams the Grizzlies have fielded in recent years. The streak includes three wins over Gateway this year, six last year and three in 2013.

When I heard WJPA Radio's Randy Gore mention Saturday night that the Wild Things had just won their 11th in a row over Gateway, it got me thinking (I know, that's something I rarely do). What is the Wild Things' longest winning streak over a team?

The answer is 12.

Twice.

In addition to the Gateway streak, the Wild Things also defeated Florence 12 times in a row. They won the final meeting between the East Division clubs in 2003 and the first 11 meetings in 2004.

Washington also had an 11-game winning streak over the Johnstown Johnnies. The Wild Things won the first 11 games against the Johnnies in 2002, then lost the final one between between the franchises.

What is the Wild Things consective losing streak? Games in a row, not season record year to year.
Also, where does Washington stand amoung the current Frontier League teams streak of current in the same city?
I know Evansville and River City are in the same city longer that Wild Things in Washington. Are there any others?

Bet the WT are not going to remain in Washington too much longer.
How are they even meeting their patrol? Just asking.

The Wild Things' longest losing streak is 10 games, which covered the final seven games of the 2013 season and extended to the first three games of 2014.

Washington joined the Frontier League in 2002 and four teams have been in the league longer: Evansville, Gateway, Windy City (though called Cook County for several years) and River City. Rockford also joined in 2002 but switched to the Northern League for the 2010 and 2011 seasons before returning in 2012.
