Crushers' home debut

Here are two links to stories and videos from the Mourning Journal in Lorain, Ohio, about the Lake Erie Crushers' first game at All Pro Freight Stadium on Tuesday night. More than 5,000 showed up to see the ballpark and watch the Crushers' win over Windy City.

Is there any legal commitment for the Wild Things to stay after the tax payer turf is installed.
One million tax payer dollars and one or two years later professional baseball in Washington will be history.
It can then be the 500 thousand turf field for Trinity and 500 thousand turf field for Cal U.
Then the place can take on its third name: BOB GREGG STADIUM

And when Cal U leaves when its deal expires this will be the most expensive high school field in America.

What kind of out cry will there be when they have the first rain out after the tax payper turf is installed.
The Wild Things played tonight, and the Pirates were rained out.
I wonder which team needs the taxpayer turf the most?
There must have been a monsoon 30 miles north of Washington tonight!
Of course if the Wild Things several hours before the scheduled start of the game cancelled and played a double header tomorrow, they would loose the parking revenue from tonight.

Keep the heat on them - I love it.That friggin parking lot was empty last night! It was great to see that. Handicapped people actually got to park fairly near the gate for a change.
Poll answer: Pitching MUCH worse than your post.
The guy thay doesn't like it can simply read some other blog. Perhaps there is one that thinks the WT are just perfect! I doubt it

this post wasn't the objection. the endless, daily, repetitive, non-stop, boorish parking postings were the objection. plain and simple. not a difficult thing to understand. not a point that should need repeating. just a single message stating that the all-the-time parking bitching by one particular poster is old.

Why is it that Jamal can get on this blog and threaten and intimidate these thieves into doing exactly what he wanted. At the same time, they thumb their noses to their loyal fans. They get a stooge (Bob Gregg) to do something very questionable ethics wise, and also secure State money to keep their business afloat.
Then they launch a VERY obvious Internet assault one man that calls public attention to this outrage.
Do they do the same to Jamal? Of course not, they are scared crapless of this idiot that had threatened to drive people away from CEP if they didn’t do what he wanted.
Well, they caved to Jamal’s demands and just check out those phony attendance figures!
What a shameless bunch.

the weather probably didn't help the attendance last night, i wasn't there but i heard it was awful. Ill will be there tonight, although it looks like the forecast is similar to last night, lets hope the team plays better, by team i mean pitching (Austin letting up 3 in the top of the 9th, AWFUL).

the attendance wont brake 1,000 till the team breaks .500,....FACT

come on Mason teach these kids how to pitch or find players that will

I rarely post on this blog but i do read it often. Im just going to put out a question that I've been thinking about for awhile, feel free to answer and voice your opinions.

Would the Wildthings be better than 2-9 if Jelks was still the Head Coach?

I know my answer

It's hard to imagine they could be much worse. Another question: Will Mason be fired after one year if he doesn't post a winning record?

The reasons that the Wild Things have decided to target one person are; First, they know who he is.
Second, they know that whatever they say about him will have no economic impact on them.
Third, they know that they have no reasonable counter argument to what he has said. There has been such obvious collusion with the tourism people that even the most naive bumpkin can see it.
Fourth, It’s real easy to pick on a long time season ticket holder that just also happens to been a senior citizen. These older people don’t fit their target demographic group, they have little money to spend. It’s not the smartest thing for the Wild Things to do, but nobody there seems to fit the description of rocket scientist.

The reason they don’t do after Jamal? That could NOT be more obvious. They don’t know who he is.
They DO know that to attack him would not be politically correct. They are afraid of being called racist.
Why are these WT folks so willing to throw long time customers under the bus in a heartbeat? At the same time they are bending over backwards to cater to Jamal’s demands. Could it be that Jamal was right about them all along? To divert attention from their mass hiring of minorities this year they pick on someone that has no political influence. Those of us that have attended WT games for several can see the sudden difference after Jamal started his rant. It’s not wrong for the WT to practice diversity but, it’s too bad they had to be prodded into it by a person like Jamal. What a classy group!

The last time I used my name somebody accused me of being someone else. So I now have a new name. It’s--------

I have a slightly different take on this business on the Wild Things and there ongoing campaign
to put Ron Wilson his place – at least in there view. If any one doubts that it is WT employees doing this then you really need to smell the coffee. They have the perfect set up. They let these people post what crap they want to and then they deny any knowledge of it. Boy, is that clever, or what?

Being a woman, I was wondering how Ron Wilson’s wife feels about the humiliating things these stupid are saying about her husband? It has just got to hurt.

It’s really disgraceful what those people do, or say. The WT are only showing us what they really are.

Pretty soon we will be seeing bogo coupons in the O-R for Wild Things tickets to boost attendence.
This won't help. A winning record will.
Why for the last two years can't the Wild Things sign good pitchers.
It looks like Washington is no longer the prime place to play in the Frontier League.

Leave Bob Gregg alone. If you knew enough about him, you would know he would do anything to help out Washington, PA. He has done countless things in this town for youths and adults. He is a good man. Feel free to disagree with his vote. That is fine. You have a right to do that. But dont attack him personally. That is just plain wrong.

Why will they? They have just about every local politician in their back pocket. As far as them catering to Jamal.I highly doubt that.1'st I think "Jamal" is some middle aged white guy with nothing better to than get everyone all riled up.2'nd who really want's to there. It is a fact that they pay "below" mininum wage. That whole non-profit BSI rubbish.

I disliked Jelks more than most people on this blog and I like most of you also ripped last years pitching, mainly the bullpen, yet this year seems worse.

Chris, I can think of a few guys that threw really well last year, none of them returned and one of them seems to be going to another team in the league. Any thoughts?

We all wanted Mason as a local guy and as well as a pitching guru yet this bullpen seems worse than even last years. Maybe he should have kept a few of those guys around.

thriftyone,
Take the parking price at pnc park. Then compare it for the toll to cross from nj to NYC over the GW Bridge. Add in what the cost of parking is at Citi Field. After you figure that out, divide by three. Make sure to add 2.5% to that.

Yeah, that sounds good....give us that number.

The parking at PNC park is not controlled by the ball team. On top of that the city of PGH. has a parking tax of almost 50%.
If the parking revenue went to BSI for ballpark improvement such as improved drainage I would not have a problem.
Okay, the Wild Things are now on a roll, better get your playoff tickets while you can.
Any predictions on how long the firework will last tomorrow night?
The opening night fireworks were a pitty. Who is sponering the fireworks this year?

Sure, Bob Gregg is an honorable man – in a pigs rear end he is!
You can’t separate Bob Gregg from his vote. A man is what a man does.
He cast a vote in favor of whom he has a direct connection via WJPA radio, who knows
what else.
If Bob Gregg would do ANYTHING for this town I have a suggestion – LEAVE!
Mr. Gregg is nothing more than another person that can be ‘used’ by those that choose to
do so. In this case, it’s the Washington Wild Things.
