Jelks to be named manager

The Wild Things are expected to announce Monday the hiring of Greg Jelks as their new manager. Nothing new here. It has been rumored that Jelks would be the manager. The official annoucement, however, is expected Monday. Don't expect Jelks to be in Washington on Monday. He's currently in Australia coaching.

After speaking with Jelks a few times this past season, I found him to be a great guy and manager of a young Slippery Rock team. This should be an amazing hire.

Hiring Jelks was the right move for the organization. He is a proven manager in the league and is coming into a solid situation with a great front office to help him continue the winning ways of the Wild Things.

Jelks has to be the best move the Wild things could make. This will probably be the key to bringing a championship to Washington!

Is that what you call a proven manager?

Last anonymous: you failed to mention that, despite a losing record in 2006, Evansville made the playoffs under Jelks as a wild card in the West Division and eventually won the Frontier League Championship. Also, let's not forget Mr. Jelks' record from 2003-2005: 160-119, including two appearances in the league championship series. Sounds like a proven manager to me.

WAit a minute! Jelks? Perth?
Where is the "local ties" here?
I thought all you guy's were soooo much in support of somebody with a connection to the area!! Now all of you suddenly think this person with NO "ties" is a great choice.
I guess you want it boths ways.
The Wild Things did the right thing and got a manager from outside the area - a good move.
There are VERY few reasons for all this "local ties" stuff except that people in this area feel as if the only good sports people in the entire world come from Western Pennsylvanis - WRONG - REALLY WRONG!!!! This 2007 not 1907 and the Pittsburgh area is not even close to being the center of the Universe as most of you seem to think.
