Zeller resigns

With his team tied for first place in the Frontier League's East Division, Bart Zeller has resigned as manager of the Wild Things. No manager has been named as of Sunday night.

This 'news' is certainly not good news, for all concerned. I'll make an assumption and say that Bart's resignation has to do with the disturbance in the dugout last evening and has something to do with our pitcher throwing at their batter. Bart Zeller has been one of the best things to happen here in Washington, perhaps this 'disagreement' can be resolved prior to his leaving town. I wish him the best and godspeed.

Health reasons? Sure. First, there is the Friday night incident where Jim Vahalik gets miffed because a good aggressive base runner rightfully knocks him on his backside. If a catcher blocks the plate, as he should, he should also not be surprised when he lands up getting leveled. Hey Jim, it's called baseball and it's just the way the game is played. Yadier Molina you're not! Your just another Frontier League catcher.
Then on Saturday night the retaliation starts with the Florence pitcher placing one behind Vahalic's head - dumb thing to do. Then, the Wild Things pitcher does the same thing - equally dumb. The umpire does the right thing by warning both benches. The so-called fans boo the umpire for doing his job.
Then, in todays paper there is mention of a "disturbance" in the Wild Things dugout. It seems that it might be best not to report on an incident without first finding out what happened. If nobody would speak of it then it should be of no consequence and left unreported. Then there was the so-called team meeting in the outfield after the game. Well, what was it all about? Whatever happened to; Who, what, when, where? Without answers to these questions, or at least, most of them, why even bother to report such a thing occurred. It would appear, judging from what little real information was presented, that there is some dissension within the coaching ranks. It also appears that the team members held a quick meeting to decide what to do. But, who really knows?
The old "Health reasons" story is probably the most over-used excuse in all of sports, next to "spend more time with my family". So, here we go again. Chris Bando, healthy enough to sign as manager, for 5 years no less, then resigned because of "health reasons". Bart Zeller, healthy enough to sign as the Wild Things manager, then resigned due to "health reasons". One must conclude that being the manager of the Wild Things is REALLY bad for ones health. I spoke with Bart just before the game last night and he was seemingly healthy as a horse. It's absolutely amazing how suddenly a managers health can go so bad, and so quickly, that they have to resign.
Good luck, Bart. You deserved better than this!

Jeff, I agree with you about this bad news. But, if Bart were to return his credibility would be ruined after saying it was health reasons.
I'm beginning to believe that the Wild Things are just plain snake bit!

Exhibit A (or is it Z) of why Stu and Steve can't manage a team. They can't. They can't do it. This is the second manager in Washington to resign this year and it's July. The softball coach left after an argument with ASS GM Steve (true story ask anyone). Now this latest resigning from a manager whose team is in first place.

"Health reasons"? They should have said Zeller is going back to his oceanfront property in Arizona.

Dig deeper.

Come on Wild Things. It' 10 PM Sunday night. Nothing on your web site, nothing on Facebook. You have had plenty of time to make up a big whopper of a cock and bull story by now. Since the best manager you had in years suddenly got sick and left, you could at least say something even if it is just your usual lie. Did you give him some roses before he left because he was sick. He was probably sick of Steve Z.

Wouldn't be surprised if he got sick of the Three Headed Dragon, Stu, Steve and Franni pretending to know more about baseball than he does. They finally start winning and they mess up a good thing. This will insure they miss the playoffs. At lease their record will not be as bad as that awful softball product the put on the field.

So another manager goes down the drain at the hands of Steve Z and his boss, Stu Williams.
How much longer will it take before the people like Jeff get into their heads that those two
pompous little Napoleon type weasels are not good for the Wild Things, the Frontier League,
or baseball at any level. They should not be defended by anybody, no matter how loyal these fans may be.
These guy’s don’t come close to having a clue. Stu has bought a baseball team because it is a nice little toy
for him to play with. Steve was not given his title because of merit because he could not even manage the
concession stands. He was the person that caused the problems that lead to the resignation of the Rebellion
coach and almost every one knows that.
This team desperately needs a change of ownership. Baseball team ownership should not be ones hobby,
even though Stu and Steve seem to be treating it that way. Just look at the way these two persons saw
to it that their wives got the Sweetheart of the Day roses on their birthdays. These guy’s didn’t even
have the manhood to pay for themselves. How lovely is that? How self centered is that? It proves that
Wild Things baseball is all about them, and only them, and that the fans mean nothing to them. There is an obvious lack of leadership in this organization.
Come on Stu. Find a buyer for this team. Then maybe we can have fun at the ball games again.
You can then spend your money of your other pipedream of rebuilding downtown Brownsville and
spare us your arrogance at the same time.
SwissChedda, or whatever he calls himself, has suggested Stu lower his admission prices. He has already
done that by allowing anybody to sit anywhere regardless of the price they paid for their tickets. A
family of five, with tickets in Section 214, sat directly in front of us in box seats Friday and nobody, including
the ushers ever said a word to them. So, in effect, the ticket prices have already been lowered, not to
mention the people that get the privilege to sit in box seat while holding free tickets handed out by
the management

I had no idea the Me. Zeller resigned until I read it on this post last evening. I am a season ticket holder, and due to unforeseen circumstances we were unable to make Sunday evening's game. My heart sank when I read this. Mr. Zeller was doing an great job managing this team. I suspect the altercation in the dugout had something to do with the resignation. back in the day, if you had a problem with someone, you went out back, duked it out and went about your business. Something is wrong with this picture, and I suspect the ownership has a lot to do with it. Two teams losing two managers in less than a month? What ever happened must have been bad, as Mr. Zeller looked the picture of health to me Saturday night. All I can say is I will not be renewing our tickets for next year. I talked to one guy who already renewed for the next three years. I hope he didn't make a financial mistake.
