More on the Lawson trade ...

Last Monday, the lead story on the North American Baseball League's website was the trade between the Wild Things and San Angelo Colts that sent second baseman Scott Lawson from Washington back to his native Texas. The Associated Press even ran the trade in its transactions section.

The trade involved five players and "future considerations." The Frontier League finally posted the trade on its website today and we've learned the identity of the future consideration. Right-handed pitcher Ryan Turner, also a native of Texas, has been dealt to San Angelo.

Turner, you might recall, was the pitcher Washington signed this offseason who had been drafted four times, including three by Tampa Bay, for whom he played last season. New Wild Things manager Chris Bando had said that Turner "should be at the back end of our bullpen."

Washington also signed right-handed pitcher Alfredo Caballero, who last year pitched for three teams in three independent leagues and compiled a 7-7 record and 5.77 ERA. Caballero was named the Pitcher of the Year in the hitter-happy Pecos League after going 6-3 with a 4.52 ERA for the Alpine Cowboys.

Caballero played his college ball at Incarnate Word, an NCAA Division II school in San Antonio. Caballero's statistics during his final season in 2010 were off the charts. As a reliever, he was 6-1 with 10 saves, a 1.26 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 57.1 innings.

The Wild Things also announced the signing of first baseman Mike Bando.

Perfect timing on installing the turf at the stadium while it was under non-profit ownership.
Now that it has been sold, will we, the taxpayers be able to recoup the cost of the turf and go back to the state and Wash. Co. tourism for other use or reducing the decifit. I understand the half a million from the tourism bureau was to be paid over 10 years. Does that still mean 9 more payments and to whom? Baseball scholarships or the ownership under Stu Williams.
At least it will be returned and hopefully taxed at 25% of the the true value and also aid the taxpayers of Trinity and Washington country of which I am a member.

Hey Anonymous turf whiner,

Did you read this topic? It actually had to do with "baseball". Get the hint. This endless whining about turf at the ballpark is old now. It has been beaten to death. Move on with your life. Find something else in your life to complain about. But please do it somewhere else.

Since when is a discussion on turf in a baseball park not baseball.
I would rather listen to a whinner than a drunk!

The turf is a dead issue even though it still sticks in my craw about the "legal' ripoff of the taxpayers.
As the saying goes, "them that has has gets". I might add they also don't care how they get it as long as they get it with other peoples money. In this case it was our money! Don't even tell me about it being a so-called 'room tax' for tourist to pay. What a crock thay is...

Mike Bando signed. Now what kind of an insider thing is this? At least they are sure up-front about it. I’ll bet the Wild Things will have the best team the Pecos League can offer. Let the nepotism begin. (My son deserves a chance because he is good. The fact I’m the manager has nothing to do with it). Yea, right! This whole new beginning thing has a stink about it.
So, will the Washington Wild Things destroy the Pecos League by stealing all of their talent? LOL!
So just what is this love affair with the Bando's? Chris Bando gets a 5 year deal right out of the box and now, his son gets signed. Did some one let a polecat into the club house?
