Here is the updated roster listed by Frontier League roster classification. Players with an * have not been announced as signing a contract for 2009:

Veterans:

OF-Chris Sidick*

L2:
DH-Jacob Dempsey
RHP-Jonathan Lewis

L1:
3B-Brad Arnett*
INF-Chris Carrara
INF-Michael Parker

RHP—Michael Mondesir
RHP—Jace Smith

My guess is there will be at least two more pitchers, two more catchers, another first baseman, a third baseman and an outfielder signed before camp begins early in May. At least two of those players will come out of the Frontier League's tryout and draft May 4-5 at Consol Energy Park.

Chris,
How about an article on the new managing partner of the Wild Things.
Also, what happened to John Switek?
He is missing from the official team website.
Having been with the team since its beginning, he was a veteran and it looks like he was replaced by a rookie.
I have seen nothing in the O-R about this management change.
This was is the most important Wild Things change because it all starts at the top and always rolls down hill.

Will Billy (Ego 1) DeFabio still be the PA announcer?
Good thing they don't have tryouts for this position.

Darn good question Obuma. Wouldn't it be GREAT not to have to hear the horses a** on the PA all season?
What makes him think he is sooo special. He makes more mistakes than the WT players!

I'm planning on doing something in the near future on Frani Williams. As of today, Swiatek is still with the Wild Things. He still goes to work each day but is primarily handling things like concerts and special events. From what I've been able to gather, he plans to leave the organization for another job in the near future. The baseball front office stuff is Williams' call, though she has Swiatek and Ross Vecchio to bounce ideas off. Vecchio has been less involved with player details this offseason. That's probably due in large part to the economy - his services are needed more in sponosrships and sales than player procurement. Mark Mason has been handling more player-related stuff than past managers, with the exception of Jeff Isom.

Well its about time that they take Ross out of player operations! The best team the wwt had was with Isom and Tekulve calling the shots with players. Ross has been doing his own version of Fantasy Baseball for the last 7 years. Its clear that if you didn't less Ross have his way, you were out the door. That is why Isom, Tekulve, Jelks are all out of there. Mason should have gotten the job in 2004 but Ross was afraid Mason would take over and Ross would be out of the door.

Tekulve had as much input into player operations as the groundskeepers.

"Tekulve had as much input into player operations as the groundskeepers."

And THAT's why Tekulve left. Ice went around Teke to Vecchio, making RV think he was a 'real' baseball GM, instead of a glorified "sponsorship sales manager".

Mason's responsible for baseball now. Let's see how it works.

If the player didn't come out of the Pirates system, Marietta College or the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Teke didn't know about the guy or the first thing about finding him.

And those kids seemed to work extremely well for Teke and the WWT, hence the best WWT team ever. Look at the ALL TIME WWT team, how many of thos were from the 1st season

Wild Things announced this morning that:

1) Chris Sidick has been re-signed for the season.

2) Tim Alberts has been traded to Joliet (Northern League) for the most-oft dealt "player to be named later."
