C-Side Sports Academy

What do minor-league baseball players do during the offseason? Many of them teach baseball. Included in that group is the Wild Things' Chris Sidick, who operates C-Side Sports Academy.

Here are two links, one is a 35-second video of Sidick talking about his sports academy and the other is a slideshow of the building's construction (you'll notice at least two former Wild Things in the slideshow).

C-Side video.

Is teaching kids how to use the "F" bomb part of what is taught at this wonderful place? Sidick may be a good minor league player but his value system needs an overhaul - BIG TIME!

Amazing! Does every comment on this blog have to blast somebody? That must be the Pennsylvania attitude these days - the steel mills are closed, the coal mines are closed, you can't make a living farming, so you spend your miserable life taking out your frustration by ripping people who play minor-league baseball and try to teach kids baseball. Youre a pretty sorry bunch there in Wild Things country.

If you don’t mind your children, or grand children listening to the sort of languish used by Chris Sidick then, by all means, you should sent them to spend some time with him at C-Side.

If you and your family don’t mind being embarrassed by hearing obscenities shouted by Mr. Sidick, then take them to a Wild Things game and get your belly full of it.

But, when your kids start repeating the same foul words uttered by this man – DON’T be surprised nor act offended. As is usual, a person reflects their upbringing, and Chris Sidick shows us all that his parents let him down at some point.

As in the case of the Wild Things showing support for a person such as Roy Jacobs, the Wild Things continue to support people of, at the very least, suspect character. Makes you sort of wonder what sort of folks they are doesn’t it?

Mr. Sidick deserves all the criticism he gets for having such a filthy mouth. If he would refrain from using these vulgarities, there would be no reason for people to even bring the subject up would there?

Why does Mr. Sidick feel that you have to be so foul mouthed to be competitive? Seems like a bit of lack of confidence to me. It’s NOT ‘macho’ to curse – it’s just stupid!

Now you're blasting the parents of players. Amazing! Remember, judge not lest you be judged and let he without sin cast the first stone. I bet Mary Ellen has dropped some F-bombs and other filthy language in public in her time. Probably has kids who do the same thing. Probably has a friend or two of suspect character. Youre a pretty sorry bunch there in wild things country.

Awesome lets all dish out criticism of someone who is doing alot for himself. Get a clue people.

By the way every sporting event I got to or watch on TV, I always catch players swearing. Why bash someone who will probably teach your kids more about baseball than any you probably could. Unreal.

You can say that again, this is a story about a young man (player) who is actually doing a service to the community by educating your children on the great game of baseball and all you people can do is talk trash about him. Your biggest argument is he swears? Are you kidding me? If you go to any professional sports game your going to hear that language, the only difference here is in CEP you sit closer to the players. I guarantee your kids hear more curse words out of your mouth in one day than they will ever hear from Chris Sidick. And if your kids do swear isn't that more a reflection on you as a parent and not a FL player they see a couple times a year? Take some responsibility for yourself as a parent, yes you!!

Come on people seriously get over yourselves

Congrats on your success Chris Sidick, your 5 times a better person than anyone who would write such trash

A service to the community?!?!
Are you serious? Do you think he's doing this for free? He isn't setting up a park for kids to play on, he's trying to make a buck. There isn’t anything wrong with attempting to be a business out of one’s hobby, but to make it sound like he’s something more than just a guy that can’t get a real job.

Ignorant! That's what alot of you are.You say you hate him, but deep down you wish you were him.Jealous because he is successful and does what he loves. You in the meantime are stuck in some dead end job and are constantly dissappointed by your kids.Yeah,it's not your fault.Blame Chris for all of your shortcomings in life and as a parent.Holier than thou, that's what you are!

If there is so much swearing at CEP how is it that the only one you can hear is Chris Sidick?
Probably because he has such a limited vocabulary that he can’t find any other way to express himself.
I have to admit that for someone with such a poor upbringing, it is much easier to just shoot off his foul mouth than to try to be more selective in his choice of words. Refinement has to be both learned and practiced, a task that seems to be beyond this man’s capacity. Yes, his parents must accept a large part of the responsibility for his lack of communications skills. If you leave it up to our education system… well, we all lose. Chris is a good example of what sort of product public education is producing now in this permissive age.
So what if every other athlete does the same thing, does that mean he can’t dare to be different and show some class? When they passed out class Chris probably thought they said a** and took a double portion of it!
To call Mr. Sidick a “local zero” is an insult to the real zeros out there that at least don’t stink up the air with their languish.
So, you defenders of this foul mouthed idiot, send your kids to C-Side and let them get their “education” there. I’m sure they will all get a passing grade in obscenities! Heaven forbid you take your beer drinking time and spend it with you kids! Let some guy as Chris Sidick teach them his values, not yours. I’m not so sure you will be happy with the result.
Mary Ellen H

Mr. C, with all due respect, you a moral coward! I’ve noticed how you play up to the moderator of this group. Are you one, and the same person, or just not able to think for yourself?

I find this amusing. My son takes lessons with Chris once sometimes twice a week and never at any point in time have I ever heard him say anything inappropriate in front of children let alone swear in their presence. He works very well with the children, teaches them tons of information and is always excited and eager to hear about what they have done outside of his facility. I have watched him interact with other children and they all seem to love their time with Chris. I have a younger child that comes along sometimes and Chris interacts with him also with genuine sincerity. It seems to me that some of these comments must be based on some type of jealousy because anyone that has actually witnessed Chris at work at his academy can say that he is great with the kids. Keep up the good work Chris and regardless of whether or not he is working with the children to make a dollar or if he was doing it for fun you can definitely always tell whether someone is enjoying what they are doing or not and Chris definitely enjoys his work with the kids. I am thankful for my sons interaction with Chris and am laughing at you people trying to put him down. Maybe you should have spent more time practicing instead of worrying about others and you would be able to do the things he is doing too.

I played college football with Chris Sidick at Marietta College, where he was a two-sport athlete. Sidick was one of the most impressive athletes I have ever been exposed to (including a FEW NFL talents). I always thought he was a top notch individual, and one HECK of an athlete.
