5 to all-star game
Five Washington players have been chosen to play in the Frontier League All-Star Game on July 16 in Traverse City, Mich.
Designated hitter Jacob Dempsey (.304, 5 HR, 37 RBI), third baseman Robbie Knapp (.296, 4 HR, 31 RBI), center fielder Chris Sidick (.301, 5 HR) and pitchers Mike Schellinger (5-2, 1.56) and Aaron Ledbetter (6-2, 4.22) have been selected.
Dempsey, pictured, entered Thursday night's games leading the league in doubles (17) and extra-base hits (23). Schellinger is the ERA leader.
The status of Knapp, who had a cracked cheekbone, for the all-star game is unknown. Knapp said Wednesday that he will see a specialist Tuesday and is hopeful that he can return to the lineup sometime later in the week.

Does anyone know how players are selected for the FL All-Star teams?

Each coach and manager has a vote, as do up to four media members in each city. I'm not sure about this, but I think each GM has a vote. You can only vote for players in your division.
Thanks Chris. I guess that pretty much takes care of stuffing the ballot box the way MLB allows.

Dempsey's a stud.
Did the Wild Thing 1 mascot get invited to the all-star game?
He was the best all star at the stadium.
The rumer has it the talented Wild Thing offered to participate this season if they paid him $$$.oo/game.
This was rejected by Wild Thing management and he now only subs when the generic wild thing is not available. I think he has been around enought to be paid a "veterans" salary. Since I an cheap, I understand.
They have really gone "DUTCH".
Thrifty, I have heard that rumor too, I heard it was amount of money per game,or x amount of cents per every 100 people in attendence. Also I heard he wanted his own shower since he uses the vistors locker room. I think the mangement should have gave it to him he deserves it. He is about the only all star on that team except for maybe Sidick.
